Glad you're okay silent. Just have to be careful out there and in my opinion, especially more so if you are lane-splitting. To some people, I'm sure you have "Target" on you as soon as you do it.
Just be very aware. I've only had to move out of the way of some oncoming nut-case once when stopped in traffic but it was not a good feeling & I was pretty shaken afterwards since he blasted past without even slowing down.

Ya right,

Here in MA - you would be. It falls under road rage laws. Unless you have some reason to be going into the shoulder (and the burden of proof of this is on you), and you hit someone who is traveling in the shoulder, you'd get a ticket for causing an accident, and the other person gets a ticket for traveling in the shoulder.qwerty wrote:Yes, there is a safer way. Don't split lanes. Lane splitters and shoulder runners annoy me, and I have this autonomous reaction that jerks the wheel towards whichever outside mirror the jerk happens to be in. Lane splitting and shoulder running are illegal, so guess who will be held at fault should one of them hit me. By the way, my daily driver is a full-size Bronco with step bumpers, brush guard, and a Category III hitch receiver. If you can't stop, smile as you go under.
While it's illegal in every state except CA to travel in the shoulder, this 'urge' of yours to hit people because of it is worse.
To the original poster - you sound like you need more time on the bike before you start lane splitting regularly. Once you have more experience, it'll be easier to tell when it is and isn't appropriate to lane split.
Thats enough

I'm 23 and I thought he was 16 or 17.
Yo.. Dudes.. It looks like the way I write really does bother you folks? Do you want me to write in MLA format? Though I did correct the word "embarrassed" for "Sevulturus"
and I am sure you 23 yr old are perfect writers, and act all like adults.
I like Keeping it simple and short? This is not an ENGLISH 101 forum or Professional Letter writing forum.
Go ahead and quote something from one of my previous. posts that seem like some thing a 17 yr old would say... I am confused... Is it how I say things? or What I say? or Grammer/spelling mistakes that makes me looks 17.. I want examples from my Previos posts. May be I’ll learn something.
Instead of insulting my posts , lets all be adults and professionals and just stay to the main thread.
I do agree that I am a total NOOB when it comes to bikes.. Usually when some one does not know of the subject most of the things that they say may sound a little childish to those of you who know everything.
By the way I truly appreciate and thank you all for helping/answering my questions etc. About 80% of my motorcycle knowledge that I have gained so far has come from you fine people.

True. I now realize that. It gave me a wake up call... I did not have any armor on me either Just Gloves(with armor) and a helmet. Though it was at very slow speed; if I had gotten hit I would have been seriously injured

Re: LOL
I really didn't mean to criticize or start a debate about your posts (as I did go on to give my opinion about lane splitting).silentx wrote:LOL...DivideOverflow wrote:No offense dude, but you come off as a lot younger than 23. See its not a very good Idea to look someones posts and judge the age... U can be,,, Pretty wrong....![]()
by the way I feel bad about my posts now.. I wanna go aback and revise all of them.. get rid of all the childish stuff I said.
I didn't necessarily mean your spelling and/or grammar are poor (but it is a bit on the myspace'ish side.... which is a fault of our generation), just that the way you approach some of the topics seem like the way a lot of the younger members approach them. Just the whole only having a permit and wanting to ride on the freeway and move up to a 600/750 thing... and you seemed really excited that you got to 70mph and redlined it, with only 90 miles on the bike. I realize that you are are making a really good attempt and asking a lot of questions which is good. I was just kind of surprised, that's all.
Sorry for being overly critical. I'm glad that you are getting the information you need here, and that we can help you with the right decisions.

Do you know how much I love riding bikes?
I love all adventure stuff. Ex: I go offloading, Mountain biking, fly planes, go Hiking (kind of out of getting shape for that now

I waited about good 10 years to get a motorcycle and ride. when I was young my parent would not let me ride a motorcycle (though my father owned one). and I grew up to 18 and started working Partime but could not afford a bike.
I was dying to get one for 10 good years. Now that I am 23 ( ya.. not 18 anymore)I was able to afford one. So few months ago I started shopping for a bike. Guess what I was looking to get. R1 or Gsxr 750. I was an inch away from getting 750. Then one day I was browsing the net, looking at motorcycle sites, and started searching for "750 for a Starter" etc. Here come this article viewtopic.php?t=11866
"You are a Beginner and want a 600cc+ sportbike? READ THIS!"
I read every word of it. and that change my mind from a 750 to 250 ninja, and YES! that article alone. lol..See I am open to reasoning I do take good advice in to consideration.
Anyhow I finally got a bike. I was so damn excited. Couldn’t explain. I felt like "hell ya suckers.. Who’s the man now..

Well... I am not Hurt or anything dude.. its all good. Let’s just say I was overly excited.

whenever you're ready.
Next week man.... next Thursday I take my MSF... Then I am freeway READY.
Dude.. You have no Idea how board I am stopping every 1 min or so at lights.. I just wanna ride for at least 15 min with out stopping.
If I am able to buy all my gear/armor (good ones are damn expensive... I checked at “Cycle gear” today) in two weeks I will definitely go riding.
Exactly two weeks from today
So lets find some good curvy ROADS...
My only worry is that I will not be able to keep up with you.. I will bug down a lot.

I wish lane splitting were legal here in MA, it'd make it a lot easier for me to justify doing it. Sure it's fun, but there's many times its not worth the ticket to me.
Though on a stretch of I95 you're allowed to run on the shoulders from something like 6am - 10am and 3pm - 7pm. I noticed the time was about 3:15 when i was on that bit of superslab and i took full advantage of the shoulder.
PS - if you're redlining it with 90 miles on there, make sure you follow hard breaking procedures and change that oil.
