I ask very little of him, and I expect even less. We are both very independent. I can handle the majority of my own affairs, and I make about 2x as much $ as him (= I pay 2/3 of the household bills). The world doesn't end if the seat is up, the trash doesn't go out. If he gets laid off, fired, quits, there is no reason to make him feel bad - what could I say - I didn't have to do that job... I am very easy going. Life is short.

Well, we are all of course exaggerating for the sake of a joke (I hope) but those points you mention ARE important.

I try to leave the seat up, I try to take the trash out before the house smells or it overflows.

Someone has to do it. It is basic common courtesy to do so. And being respectful and courteous to your spouse is most important. Support each other, and when conflicts arise, discuss the situation is a neutral manner. Of course, one would question why the spouse would be nagging about the trash and without having simply taken it out herself

then again, if one is always taking out the trash, that brings us back to one of those neutral discussions.

That what I mean! If I have time to ask him, I have time to do it myself. We don't have kids, so I think it is easier at my house. I am home more than him - those advanced degrees help you work less and earn more

I read an article about nagging and it said that it's about getting their attention, stating what you want once, and living with that response. I also think one has to accept their spouse for who they are. Like mine is not suddenly going to become this attentive, wonderful, romantic man. Mine is a shoot from the hip, unromantic, jerk, really. But he has a heart of gold, so....

BTW - on the lunch front - Boss brought me a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Don't let me do that again - it's waaaay to much for lunch!! I still feel like a boa constrictor!

I brought a huge assed lunch to work the other day, 2 ham n cheese sandwhiches, cup of soup, stupid gross filled oatmeal cookie that has way to many calories, halloween candy (take that kids, Im gonna need more, Im eating it all...) and some other assorted things that I dont remember anymore..then to top it off someone gave me a donught.

Im getting fat.....

and the toilet seat is better down, less chance of the things on the shelf above falling into it...EI..tooth brush....

I'd like to mention its probably not a good idea to put your toothbrush on the shelf above your toilet. That's just asking for trouble
