How to dispose of old gasoline?

I have some gas that's been sitting around for about a year in a red plastic gas can.

How do I get rid of it?

I poured a couple quarts down an underground bee nest by the house. Took care of them nicely. Old gasoline also kill weeds.

i would take an old crappy oven pan and pour the gas in it outside, because the sun will evaporate it really quick. you'll probably have to do it a few times. or maybe go to the gas station and see if they will take it, it is after all, the GAS station.

I don't think an oven pans worth of gasoline would be very dangerous outside when it is being diluted by an entire earths atmosphere worth of air.

Ask at your local fire station if there is a HazMat recycling centre in your area.

^This would be the official and responsible choice.

If you are using a small amount, less than a liter or two, you will not do much harm by pouring it out in your driveway away from sewer drains, your yard, etc. Judging by the fact that you asked this question, I'd say Gadjet's response is the one you will choose.

No, I agree with you, I think that in small amounts in a large area it should not be a problem (I'd probably go this route myself)... however better safe then sorry and all that when you're giving advice on the intarweb.

It was a good suggestion, and I would have done it... but I realized my landlord had a large steel gas can sitting in the shed that was less than half full and had not been used in years.

I just added my 1.2 gallons to it and he can deal with it
