I only made it to 5 minutes ;), but I think you're being to hard on yourself. Shifting looked smooth. And while you claim to not have been looking through the corners I can think of several instances where you most definately were. If it makes you feel any better, we all fall into that trap sometimes, and just forget to look through.

I think you should be really proud, you're making amazing progress.

If I had any tips? I'd say be a little more agressive on the brakes. It'll let you get your feet down a little sooner, and help your balance a bit while stopping.

That and your camera man should be sprinting around to make sure those trees don't get in the way ;)

You're doing great, don't stop. Not for anything.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

You are definitely too hard on yourself..... but I'm learning that's just you, it ain't gonna change! Your tight corners (e.g. around 4'50") look very nice.

Someone into physical training and the physiology of performance as much as you should already know why your body performs differently on different days. Why does a baseball pitcher have a 90mph slider that nicks the corner of the strike zone one day, then the next day can't buy a strike for a million dollars? Surely you don't think it's any different for the rest of us? I have days where I know my "klutz factor" is so high I stay off the bike, period.

Your written comments at the end of the video cracked me up, LOL

I suspect that braking isn't very easy with limited use of one arm. You need to hold yourself off the bars, and keep the bars straight. I'm not sure I could do that.

Yeah, just squeeze a little harder. You'll come to a complete stop just a little quicker, and it'll get rid of some of that wobble. And like you say, keep your chin up ;)..

Keep up the great work.

+1! Not sure I could do it myself, you're amazing in your determination, and definitely your skill! Thanks for the vids!

Every time I see your pics or vids, I'm amazed how different the "real" Japan looks from the popular misconception I evidently had in my brain. There's a lot of scenery in that video that could be south New Jersey, like farmland around Vineland, etc.

I'd love to see some pics of the rural japanese towns. One of my plans is to eventually take a visit to japan, and one of my goals is to spend one night in the city and then take off in a rental car and just drive the country to see where we end up.
