people, people, one at a time please!

I'm still waiting for the answer to my question: what is the air-speed of a swallow?

What's a ZZR250? VTR250 Interceptor?
ZZR250 is the same as the ninja250 so sporty

the VTR is a standard bike.

My standard Honda is more agressive then a ZZR250.

Methinks you need to re-evaulate your definitions.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Depends on the swallow... Your average Barn swallow can do about 35-40 MPH. While your slower, more maneuverable swallows can only do about 20 MPH. I think the fastest swallow out there is the European Short Tailed, and if I'm right, it'll do about 50 - 55 MPH...

to me.

the 599 is closer to a sportbike than the ninja250.
Didn't you just say the ninja was a sportbike?

Um, my ninja 500 has a forward leaned seating position... compaired to todays race replica's with their AGGRESSIVE seating position you are more upright, but you arn't totally upright like a real standard. All of those bikes you mention are inbetween the two seating positions.

Its funny, this morning I was gonna comment on the little ninjas not being sportbikes, but I didn't wanna start a war over it. Funny how it happened anyways

I think the bike has more to do with being a sport bike than how you sit on it. Lets take the SV650 and SV650S. On the S you arn't in a super ultra UBER aggressive seating position like on a gsxr, but you arn't sitting upright like on a standard. But you are more leaned forward than the slightly leaned forward position you are in the SV650 base model. If its the same exact bike, but different clip-ons, and a plastic nose job... it has the right to be called a sport bike all of a sudden?

wow... come back to my thread today and see its doubled in size! Except, all that new discussion is about what technically is/is not a sport bike, which actually has very little to do with the heart of my original questions. Someone done hijacked my thread! :P

And Ninja79, are you talking African, or European?

Ive been looking at classified ads around my areas (Brooklyn), and I'm finding no Ninja 500. I thought it would be like shopping for a Civic or a Camery or some such... so popular that there'd be tons of used ones for sale. This, compounded by the fact that i live in frickin' NYC, where there's 6 million people. Guess not. So, lets say for a second that I can't find a ninja 500 or GS500... what then? Can someone suggest some other alternatives to look for? I'm looking for a SPORT BIKE, or a SPORTY STANDARD.... let's not get hung up on semantics, you KNOW what I'm looking for. I want something 500cc, or whatever you guys think would be just about the fastest [acceleration-wise] that a newbie can handle. I guess maybe something a little older? I'm just pretty much at a loss of what to look for if I can't get a decent used ninja 500 or GS500.

Please read first few posts where I detail what kind of riding I think I'll be doing and such.

Oh, and before I forget: Ni!
