Concours 14 - yeah, I'll take one

#1 Unread post by scan »

I've been reading the press releases and the articles in the recent issues of the popular motorcycle magazines, and I'm one impressed puppy. If this thing is as good as they are suggesting, it has moved to the top of my list.

I'd been thinking sport-touring would be my next bike, and Kawasaki was already in consideration, but fuel injected, shaft-drive, 1350cc, hard-bagged, adjustable windshield, and dash tire gauge - man, I'm so there.

They are calling it Intercontinental Super Sport. ICSS as compared to ICBM (if you can related).

Okay, sweetie... you can have that bike just as soon as I get the 2007 Mean Streak! (why oh why didn't they have that paint scheme in '06?! - it's exactly what I wanted to do with my bike!)

While I definitely like the Concours, I definitely like the Mean Streak better. That's a beautiful paint scheme!

Yeah, the Concours 14 bumped the FJR off my number one preference for a new bike. I am worried about tire wear on the big beast though. Can't wait to read the next sport touring comparison when the 14 is released.

Why can't someone release a 750-800cc version of these shaft drive sport tourers? It would be perfect as a triple. :D

I assume they are naming it Concours to live by the motto "Underpromise, Overdeliver".

kawasaki had the tire manufacturer (cants remember who right now, it was in one of the mags) make a special version of a sport touring tire that had additional plys in it for longer life with such a heavy bike. If i happen accross that mag/article ill post the info up.
