New Honda 919 Maintenance

#1 Unread post by i love to ride »

Just purchased the 2006 919. Has about 250 miles on it. The dealer of course told me about the first 600 mile service. What is involved in this and can I do it myself? (I am mechanically inclined.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Off the top of my head, your 919's little brother, the 599, requries the following at 600 miles:

oil and filter change
steering head bearing inspection
Check/lube cables
Check tire pressure
Check clutch and throttle cable freeplay

And that's it. I just did the oil change since everything else is I take care of weekly, anyways

Check the owner's manual. They usually have a time table showing what maintenance to do and when.

You inspect your steering head bearings weekly?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Shh, I'm not supposed to tell anyone this, but I have x-ray vision.

Actually, I'm a horrible person and haven't done it yet. It's scheduled for when there's snow on the ground... that sticks.

This is a 599 maint schedule. The valve adjustment in there is incorrect, it's meant to be done at 24000km (according to the Honda bulletin on my dealers wall). Should gve you a decent idea of what needs to be done.
