My wife...

#1 Unread post by cb360 »

... took her first ride out of the neighborhood with me yesterday on her Rebel 250. We rode to Discovery Park in Seattle and back. Maybe 25 miles round-trip including riding some slow hills and twisties in the park. She did very well. Only one stall and she didn't freak out in the traffic we encountered there and back. She's still a little slow to pull out even when there's plenty of time between her and the next car, but she's "ridin' her own ride" and being safe and progressing slowly so I'm happy. She's only got a couple hundred miles under her belt at this point so I know she'll get there soon enough. At any rate, it was lots of fun and it's great to have her on her own bike.

Congrats. You're in for a lot of fun. I am hoping that I can do the same with my wife some day.

Thanks - my wife isn't comfortable on my bike and it's only got a 360cc motor... but it's an old standard and still weighs near 400 pounds and she couldn't flatfooot it. Stick your wives on a Rebel and I bet they'll be pretty comfortable.

Hey man thats awesome. My mom won't ride with my dad. We keep trying to get her on one, in fact we're still working on getting her interested AT ALL! I have a plan of taking the cages and stashing them one day before church so she'll have to ride. :roll2:

Just buy a small, used bike, and leave it in the garage for her. Tell her it's hers (even if you just want it for youself?). She'll see it. She'll think about it. And when nobody is home, she might go out and sit on it. Yes... the tempation.. oooh, the tempation.

Then start it up once in a while, and be all pouty about how 'someone should really ride this thing..'

Hey, I don't want my wife coming with me. I like the freedom of just riding and zooming around all by myself. I don't need her harassing me out on the road too.

I wish I had the pennies to learn to ride, cause I would love to ride my own bike, I'll just have to make do with pillion, or ballast as Dave puts it!
I'm not riding fast...........Just flying low!
