Just imagine how it was to be Buzz, puttin' up with all of those pull-type Suzuki jokes for so long......even the Harley guys had to feel sorry for him
'Zactly....

Was wondering when you were going to chime in with that....

If motorcycle brand or type ever becomes a true indicator of character...we're all in trouble! We would all automatically start with half the character of anyone driving a car, and two thirds of trike riders, if we can apply the same rule to them.

And I'll be an old geezer just because my bike is. And my son will have a split personality for having more than one.

Guys like John will be labeled as indecisive for owning so many different ones over the years.

And Buzz will just be politically incorrect for his obvious intolerance of ...you know.

Sev will be accused of switching sides (traitor)...to the right side.

Poppygene will be an enigma for being too nice for "one of those biker guys"

Matt will be labeled as a transplanted eskimo for riding in the snow.

We'll all have to judge each other and stop being nice, for all kinds of reasons.

And my neighbor will still be riding a free borrowed Harley and making fun of our paid-in-full "chinese " bikes. And he still won't learn his geography.

Right...lets just ride. (I know I left a few of you out, but I got too old to continue)

Been there, done that - twice. Still licking the wounds. I'm a slow learner when it comes to women.
BuzZz wrote:Maybe.... but people didn't dream up those issues that the jokes are based on. They came from actual bikes that actually had problems.
That point was true - 20 years ago. It's time to update your humour database. When AMF owned Harley back in the late 70's there were numerous quality control, design and maintenance issues and that is where all the jokes came from. But since Harley was bought out and restructured in the early 80's they have made many improvements and, really, the vibration and oil leaks are gone. You should try riding one or talk to people who actually own one.
BuzZz wrote:Lost me there..... sounds like Harley owners don't like to admit that thier bikes could ever have a problem......
Yep, you missed that one. What I was trying to say was that Harley jokes on a non-Harley specific forum are universally accepted without question and nobody makes a fuss about them EXCEPT those who actually ride them. And, no, the Harley isn't perfect. Show me a bike that is. Heck, I'll show you two Hinckley built Triumphs I owned that were absolute pieces of junk.
BuzZz wrote: Funny is funny, if the joke hurts, maybe it's cause it hits too close to home, or there is some denial going on??? I don't know, but it sounds reasonable....
In your little corner of the galaxy, perhaps. I still don't see any humour in twenty year old jokes. And after 36,000km with absolutely no problems on my '04 Harley and 120,000km on my '86 Sportster with very few problems I hardly think comments like yours are hitting close to home, nor is there any "denial" on my part. But somehow, I don't think you'll ever understand or believe that.
BuzZz wrote:Most (granted, not all) comments are not made with any malice, but most (again, not all) H.D. comments are taken as a personal attack by H.D. owners. Never figured out why.... it's not like the owners designed and built the things.....
No, they're just tired of people mouthing off over something they know nothing about. I'm willing to bet you've never owned one - or if you have, I'm certain it wasn't one of the newer ones. In fact, I'd like to know if you've ever RIDDEN one.

 Point taken. My apologies. But I'm still going to debate with anyone who tries to perpetuate fallacies about Harleys - or any other bike for that matter.

"Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
And try to love one another right now" - Get Together, Youngbloods

Modesty and humility deserve just as much (or more) respect as (and tend to be contributing factors of) Unity.

That's one of the other things I rather enjoy- If someone makes a suggestion for you on a way to fix your bike, they'll usually leave it up in the air as to whether it's the right solution, always welcoming a second opinion.

I've seen guys (not here, at least :D) who'll tell you what your problem is, how (usually accompanied by 'the only way') to fix it, and they won't budge from their 'proffessional' diagnosis.
