Nope I'm not a Bio-Chem Major, I'm a Forensic Science major which for some reason goes the extra mile in math and sciences along with literature. I make it through by listening to Comfortably Numb at least twice a day...Wrider wrote:Yes you are... I just dropped chem because I couldn't care about it enough to do anywhere near passing. And yes, I feel your pain. A couple of friends of mine are Biochem majors, they get a free minor in chem if they put in the paperwork, they don't even need to take any extra classes!JCViper528 wrote:Oh yeah, I'm currently in Organic chem, Quantitative Analysis, and Instrumental Chem... I'm not nuts, just need to graduate ASAP.

All I wanted to do was be a washed out cop like you see in the movies...
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Get as much knowledge as you can while you are still in "education mode". You will thank yourself later! Don't narrow your horizons! Be preapred for variations on what you "goal job" is!I'm going into marine biology, something tells me I won't need to know "moles" or "wavelengths" or "lewis structures" to figure out that some whale coincides in a symbiotic relationship with feeder fish. Obviously there's a more microscopic level to it, but with the classes I'm taking it looks like a Chem Major with a minor in BIO.
And I do emphathise! As a non natural science major I still had to take the share of chem, bio, etc. I wish I had taken some other classes during the "duration" - but I worked at least 36 hour a week during undergrad, and had a regular, full time suit wearing responsibility having job when I went to grad school at night - and thought I couldn't fit in another thought!!
I fell into a banking career about 10 years ago after relocating, and had to take accounting and countless other classes to get to this point....
I'm sorry, I sound like my dad! BUt, you know, maybe he knew what he was talking about!

How I ENVY you.NorthernPete wrote:I stoped taking chem in grade 11....best thing I ever decided to do...
I cant imagine what sort of pain youre going trhough at that level...![]()
Good luck guy!Hows your arm doing BTW?
Arm is set for Dec 14 for pre-op, with surgery set on Dec 22.
Metal is still bothering me a lot, won't let my wrist get back full range of motion. Fingers still not able to spread out. Nuts, oh well. Thanks for asking though.
Lenny: Hey George I want a dog.
George: Shut up Lenny, you're too stupid for a dog.
Lenny: At least I'm not an @ssoff.

I will thank god that I don't have to take it then.
From Ochem I go to Biochem and genetics and then beyond that more biology stuff (anatomy, physiology) as I get into the veterinary classes.

You're in for an unpleasant surprise.asiantay wrote:I'm going into marine biology, something tells me I won't need to know "moles" or "wavelengths" or "lewis structures" to figure out that some whale coincides in a symbiotic relationship with feeder fish. What do you expect to *do* as a bio major?
There is a reason they list Chem and Bio as two separate areas of study, afterall.
I was a bio major after being a biomedical engineering major

My son inlaw is a Chemical Engineer, Gas & Oil. When he was taking Ochem, my daughter helped him through it and she hadn't taken it yet. She's a mere Mechanical Engineer, it means that her ego doesn't quite measure up to her partners...
