I agree with loonette, there are a lot of children who are up for adoption, that need a home. Why not pour all the money that would go into a transplant, into adopting a child, and raising them with the best of opportunities?

I'm sorry - I'll probably get blasted by somebody within seconds, but... why, why, why do we feel it necessary to mess around with fate. There are plenty of babies to adopt (PLENTY!), there are plenty of willing participants for surrogate pregnancies... I just don't get it. I know it's easy for me to say; I was easily able to get pregnant and had two easygoing pregnancies/births, but really! I still maintain that if I hadn't been able to get pregnant for any reason, then fine... I would either adopt or just become the best "auntie" to the children of my friends.

And what a waste of good scientific resourses/money when we have much more important medical issues that could use our attention.

Loonette, I'm not one to shy away from scientific research. I think this is a great step forward and if indeed we can make it possible it will be a breakthrough in transplant research...not just for having babies, but for saving lives as well.

Now to be practical (and humane) I agree with you 100%. Anyone who cannot have their own child can and should adopt. There are just too many orphaned children out there, too many babies dropped at the doorsteps of hospitals who need a loving home. If anything I think adopting is greater than having your own. You're not just bringing a new life into the world, you're taking care of a life that's already here. They never had a choice in the matter.

I have heard so many women say they want another (and already have 2 or 3) because they love babies, how babies are, how good babies are.

People should be out to raise good adults, not be all goo goo over the romantic idea of a baby.

That's comforting to hear. Even worse than the people who have children who can't care properly for them, IMO, are those who have relations, end up pregnant, and abandon the baby. IMO men and women are equally responsible for the lives they create through their actions, and the freedom to have children comes with the strict responsibility and obligations that follows. Men should not be able to walk away from the children they create, and women should not be able to abandon those same children they were a part in creating (I refer of course to births by consensual relations). Both parents should be held physically and financially responsible.

Already answered that one I'm afraid... At the end of the day thre is no real medical justifications for a Boob job and I rate a womb job above a boobjob, along with a number of other things, in order of nessicity...

I agree with, a man should be responsible for the baby he creates. Which is a two-sided sword. He should be responsible for the baby he creates, but he should also have an equal say in what happens to it. Meaning, mother says "i want an abortion" and father disagrees with it, his voice should have an equal of bearing as the mother's. But currently that is not true. The father has absolutely, and I mean this, absolutely no say in what happens to a baby, beyond how much the mother decides to listen to. No abortion clinics care what the father has to say about it, all they do is ask the mother what she wants, and that's it.

There is presoius enough say after the childs birth when it can relate to both parents, before the birth forget about all thats going to happen is you are wrong and will get hurt.
