That's why I won't buy a piece of property with a homeowners association attached to it. You basically sign up for having a bunch of neighborhood busybodies tell you how your property should look.

And they can enforce the fines. Every H.A. agreement I've ever seen gives the association the right to both levy and collect fines, and enforce the collection by recording liens on the property. Why anyone would agree to restrict their own property rights and rights of free expression is beyond me, but it's getting more commonplace around here.

Good gravy! I think those who own homes with neighborhood associations have fewer freedoms than renters. If I were that lady, the next sign to go up would be a "for sale" sign. How crazy...

See, this is where it should be legal to kill a few morons.

I mean really. There should be a group of folks who just roam the country looking for stuff like this. When they find it, they take a sack full of keilbasas and beat the living daylights out of whoever did it.

All the while chanting, "You are an idiot, You are an idiot, You are an idiot..."

Bonus points if they wear robes while doing it.
Triple points if they are tye died.

Wouldn't it be nice to see that scroll across the news? "*generic idiots name here*, was found beaten smart today by family members. Reports indicate the victim is in stable condition and has publicly apologized for being grossly stupid."

The problem with stupid people is that they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

This is a good example of a defunct homeowners association. In reality, nothing should have come of this. They have committees for a reason, so a single person can't go on some wild tangent. The president got a complaint, the committee threw it out, so the president of the committee fired everyone and followed through anyway.

That neighborhood needs to remove that president and get a few rules attached to their association handbook regarding how their committee works (which apparently it doesn't, the head of the committee can just do whatever she pleases).

Rather than pay $1,000 in protest, which she will probably have to pay since the association is controlled by one self-righteous nut, she should blanket her neighborhood with flyers and get down to the next meeting with a petition.
