Yeah, I suppose it is always worth asking. I just think profit margins are close, and I wouldn't expect a big price drop. Always worth asking. I noticed you're in Wash. Twp, NJ. The kawasaki/suzuki/yamaha dealer on Rt17 in Ramsey has 06 vstar 650 leftovers in stock. I just bought my vulcan 900 there as an 06 leftover for 6700, down from 7350. With the vstars at around 6100, you could probably do well there.
I'm around the corner in Waldwick, so when/if you get it, look me up and maybe we can do a ride.

It all depends what type of bike you want, bikes in high demand will sell at a high price any time of year, the best time is in the early spring when the dealer just got a tractor trailer load of new bikes, the dealer owner is worried cause he owes somebody some big money real soon if he don't sell these new bikes so thats when hes really desperate to sell, then when the weather breaks and 300 people a day come in looking at bikes, then the dealer feels better, more secure and starts selling his bikes for top price. The best way to get the price down on a bike is use the salesmans time against him, stall and drag the deal out for a long time, then the salesman will give you the lower price you want just to get rid of you. Be a royal pain in the a** when ur buying a bike for the best deal. Sometimes the salesman will walk away, follow him, if he starts talking to another customer, interupt his conversation, you get the idea.

That isn't really true, he doesn't need to sell those bikes until the end of the riding season (that's when the money comes due) and in some cases the bikes are simply shipped back to factory. Having been merely leased by the dealer. As for being a pain in his "O Ring", that might get you a slightly better deal, though if I was the salesman I'd have you escorted from the building.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Definately check every dealer within a reasonable distance. I wouldn't drive 100 miles to save $10, but in my case, the dealers 18 and 21 miles away were $597 higher OTD than the dealer 26 miles away. I'll drive another 5 or 8 miles each way for $597.
