I hate my truck and miss my car
Now that the bike is away for the winter i have no way of having fun on the roads. The truck is slow, ungainly, and doesn't have the greatest of tires. Jeeze, at least with a car i could go pretend to be Michael Schumacher or The Stig.

What kind of car, i'll tradeBuzZz wrote:I hate my car and miss my truck.
Front wheel drive sucks.
I need to use every lie, trick and threat I have to pry my truck out of my wife's white knuckles.... that's all that works and it don't work very often.![]()
Winter sucks.

And there's a very simple solution to the winter + car problem, get a Subaru.
Are there ANY trucks there? Whenever i see Japan on tv or movie i don't see any.Shorts wrote:I'm with BuzZz on that, I miss my truck. Sure, I have this little diesel 4x4 suv here - but man do I miss my truck
And it's not that my truck is BAD, it's just that its not what i want. For what it is, it's great. I just hate it. If i WERE capable of owning two vehicles, i'd keep it in a heart beat.

A 2wd with a locker can get out a lot of situations that a 4x4 can. So, if you don't have a 4wd, don't fret. (I say locker above because I think some LSDs are weak and aren't much good. The G80 Govloc thats in Chevrolets is a locking type)
As I think this, I fret that my truck has a stupid open rear diff!

They do have trucks here. Toyota Hilux trucks, datsun trucks, mazda trucks. Some fancy pants have fullsize rams, silverados, blazers and broncos. But the fullsize are very few and far between.

No locker or LSD :-/ even have 3.54 rear. I thouogh about the ford racing 7.something 28 spline LSD but idk anymore. If i had the 4.0 and a 5 speed it MIGHT be a different story. People think im weird for wanting 17" wheels and really grippy tires along wth LSD, 2" drop and a rear sway bar and a strut tower bar. What can i say i like road performance over most everything else. I mean sure, i MIGHT do light offroading IF i had 4x4, but i doubt too much on a STOCk ranger. Now if i had, lets say $1000 for mods to a 4x4 4.0L ranger, it'd sit tall and go places. Though i'd still rather have a 01 impreza 2.5 RS with a JG20E swapped into it. (least i THINK it's a jg20e, im PWI at the moment so im not sure my head/brain is workiung( though i suppoes isf i had a 4.0 and 2WD i'd make a "prerunner" style truck out of it, maybe go full locker in the rear instead of LSD. Though to be honest im more of a street gripping highspeed fan than a offroad machine fan. What can i say, part of me is part ricer.Shorts wrote:Geoff650R wrote:[What kind of car, i'll tradethough my truck is only RWD. Does have snow tires though. The 354 rear is a good start. I've got that in my truck now as well. Before that it was 342s (stock) and 373s after my lift and I grenaded the rear
If you prefer road performance, you don't need the weight of the 4x parts. They'll only get in the way, especially when a locker would level the playing field. If you decide to upgrade the rear, drop in whole upgraded axle and not play around with replacing the guts. It'll be much easier swap and still cost about the same.
I used my 4wd for play and work all the time. I wouldn't be happy with a 2wd and I prefer to have a hi and low range for 2wd and 4wd...ie, AWD won't cut it. Just my preferences for what I do with my truck

LOL shorts, you're a girl after me own heart. THOUGH a locker would be a bad choice for twisties, a LSD would give better performance. My ranger HAS the transfer case, its just empty. heh. The frord racing LSD is at most $260 for my AWSOME 28 sline 7.something inch rearend. THOUGH theres someone selling dana 65 (i tinbnk) axels for cheap around here. IF i had the 4.0 id consider it. BUT a 3.0 AUTOMATIC sucks in every way shape and form. Hell, the bed isnt long enouhg for my dirtbike.Shorts wrote:The 354 rear is a good start. I've got that in my truck now as well.
