Christmas present budget?
So what do you fellow consumers think you'll be spending on christmas presents this year? It seems like it gets more expensive every year and more out of hand. I'm trying to take it easy since I'm trying to buy a house, but I'll probably still be in the $501-$1,000 range if i'm lucky, and I have a small family.

I am hoping to keep it simple but still nice. I really think the holidays are more time to get together and have some laughs than a big present haul.
I will def sped less that $500 all told. Perhaps less!
We don't put up a tree. We have a bunch of christmas trees on our property, right by the driveway. We might put some lights on one tomorrow. We may get some pine from out back and decorate with that. Oh - I put the antler things on the dogs. hehehehe that cracks me up!
Somehow, it seems more "fun" when it's less $ and more spirit, creativity...
I am getting hubby the underwear he asked for, the clymer manual for his bike, some dvds, and a GC for a leather shop so he can get gloves or whatever he wants.
I hope santa gets me the digital tire guage, chrome side covers, and my saddle bag racks. But, I've been very naughty

Christmas budget
It's Christmas, so I keep it simple. I took myself out of that whole spending lots of money on usually senseless gifts that most people don't use, look at or have very little to do with after the holiday season. Now I just buy a small gift for my Sons and Daughter in Laws, and my girlfriend. I tell my family not to buy me a gift I just prefer a card and a hug. I find that family and friends are the best gift.
I'm not celebrating the all mighty dollar, or how much I receive or give, or how big my christmas tree is or how many lights I have on my house.
I'm celebrating Jesus' birthday and wishing for peace on this planet of ours and hopefully good riding weather.
Merry Christmas Everyone.

I and my immediate family have opted out of the whole consumer frenzy. I don't have kids, but my (5) brothers and sisters do. My nieces and nephews will get presents (we each draw 1 kids name), but the adults have agreed to donate the money they would have spent to various charities. My GF is on board with this too. She hates trying to find something that I don't already have (that I'd actually want).
Not only does it significantly reduce the pointless hours of shopping, it benefits those who really need it.

I'm poor, so not that much (<$100). Now, if i COULD afford lotsa stuff, that'd be different. Maybe a nice .223 bolt action for my dad, brake overhaul and detailing for mom's jeep, and a complete top end rebuild for step-dad's KX250. Not to mention gifts for the roomates. Eric'd get something for his Golf, Chris would get something for his F350, Karin'd get a gift certificate to Maurice's.
BUT im poor, so i just wont get TOO drunk on them. Assuming i'm here for xmas night. MIGHT be up at dad's for a change, duno yet.

I will be spending far less than $500.00. This year I am giving food/edible gifts.
A big bottle of genuine maple syrup for my friend who like pancakes.
Good Balsamic Vinegar and olive oil for my foodie sister.
Coffee for my coffee junkie friend.
Good tea for my transplanted English friend.
etc., etc.

Geeze, one of the presents I bought cost me $600+ after taxes. Thankfully I limited my buying to a select few in the family and a tiny bit extra for some friends. Now when I say a select few, it means that I'm not buying for the nieces and nephews, or the brothers and sisters. If I had to buy for everyone, I'd need a bit higher range in that poll. Being one in a family of eight, with 18 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and great nephews this poor boy would be poor indeed...
Edit: I can't forget the grandson now can I...

Very funny, Holiday. It's all fun and games isn't it? That is until your nephew pops out looking like Ralph Alvarez.
I voted $500-$1000, because I'm almost at the $500 mark if you include the presents so far (both purchased and planning to purchase), decorations, and getting the house ready for the big day.

Wow, I'm in elite company. One of 2 people spending over a grand this year.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

Less than $100 for me. Only buying for my better half. I just got another job this friday (was out of work for 2.5 months due to accident) so money is going to be scarce for the holiday season. Spent the last few dollars in my bank account for something nice for her.
