Changing Front Fenders?

#1 Unread post by Aggroton »

Ive done pretty much everything to get this bike running myelf while supervised by my friend who knows alot about all kinds of motors. so with that said i just got a new fender i ordered delivered today. i cant imagine something happening that i wouldnt be able to take care of without my friend being right there to make sure i dont mess up too bad. is this the acme of foolishness? or is this as easy as i think it will be?

oh and its an 82 yamaha 550 seca.

thanks fellas.
thats a sweet bike.

Erm.. If you're doing anything which involves more than just bolts and nuts, it's always good to have someone along. :)

A front fender shouldn't be a big issue, though.

I just replaced my by myself the other day in 15 min. Yours is probably even easier. I know my '82 Nighthawk was a breeze taking it on and off.

ok so i got everything switched over ok...but im afraid there isnt enough clearence...should i redrill the holes so it will sit better...or just widen the holes and tighten them down alot?

Well. if this is a show bike, and you never plan on riding it, sure, that's enough clearance. :)

But I doubt that's what you've intended. Because of the distance you'd probably want to raise the fender, redrilling them would probably work better than widening them.

I got questions....

Is that the back of the fender? Looks like it.

If that's the rear, is there a much bigger gap at the front of the fender?

If there is, can you slightly slot the holes you drilled and slide the fender back in it's mount?

And did you armor-all your tires?
No Witnesses.... :shifty:
