quick question

#1 Unread post by telefunkin »

I just bought my first bike last week. It's an 83 Yamaha xs400 maxim, 29,000k on the odometer. it's in good condition, aside from a bad paint job, but the engine runs like butter.

anyway, i've been driving it around my subdivision to get a feel for it and I can honestly say, that I am glad i didn't go for a bigger bike. I drove a 49cc scooter all last summer, and had alot of fun with it.

Going to a bike, was an entirely new experience. The 400cc engine(i know, low on bike standards), was an amazingly powerful engine to me.

On my second drive, i pulled up to a stop and wasn't ready for the weight balance....the bike fell.......

I'm 5'11" 150lbs and If this had been a bigger bike, I might not have been able to lift it.

thank you

**EDIT** ^^^^ i was being sarcastic by the way. don't kill me.

tele, try to see where the leak came from. If it is dripping you can trace the leak. If it definitly stops leaking, then your bike is probably fine, check your oil level regularly for the next few days to be sure. It might be a gasket/o-ring. What side did you drop it on?? It could be leaking from the shifter.
Are you sure that it is oil dripping, and not gas from the carb overflow? Being such an old bike i wouldn't be suprised if the float slightly stuck when you tipped it.

Just do a brief search of all his previous posts - there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to any one thing that he says. Try to ignore him...
