My ignition has the same four positions, but my ignition is in between the guages on the front of the bike, just in front of the handlebars, while my petcock is attached to the fuel tank.

There is no electrical or mechanical connection between the two.

Like yours, my petcock is also very stiff and takes a bit of effort to turn. I don't worry about this though as I just leave my petcock in the 'Res' or reserve position.

My ignition and petcock are in the same spots as yours. It's just that I can't turn the petcock unless the key is in that "P" position. Hell, I thought that was a "feature" of the bike until now. I thought the P was for petcock and thats why it had to be in that position to turn.

dont you have to be able to turn the petcock from on to res with the bike running... otherwise what's the point of having it? do you have a fuel gauge?

power assistance for the petcock, youd expect that feature on a goldwing ;p

but really why would it have to be in Park for you to turn the petcock. id try and crank it when the ingition is off i seem to remember being on a bike that was easy to turn it while the bike was running and when it was off it was much harder. maybe the ignition being on or in park does something to cause it to seem easier to turn?
