Best places to ride

#1 Unread post by Speed Trader »

Has anyone ever compiled a list of best places to ride? Such as weather, scenery, roads, cities whose general public's attitudes are friendly towords motorcyclists, riders per capita, accident rates per rider, etc.

I'm new so I've only ridden in San Diego. The best part about here is obviously the weather. It's pretty much year round except to the few days a year it actually rains and during late summer when its an infernal for a few weeks. I think the public is generally tolerant since there are lots of motorcyclists.

What are your favorite places to ride?

Well, this whole state of our is filled with georgeous scenery and magnificent roads. I live near Yosemite, and this is a rider's paradise. The only problem here is that the whole summer is infernal, not just the end. Come on up north, and I'll show you around.

I live near Gettysburg PA. We have a lot of great riding. Believe it or not the battlefields are a great place for a scenic ride with a buch of twist and turns and things to see. Also the mountains are within a half hours ride from me. I don't think I would enjoy where I live as much unless I got to see it from the saddle. The public's attitude is great, southern Pennsylvania is definitely a very biker friendly area it is down right thick with bikes most of the year.

Yosemite sounds awesome. I've always wanted to go up there. Maybe I will plan my next vacation up there. There should be a travel show for motorcyclists on the discovery channel or travel channel. Get someone to travel around the country to all the motorcycle friendly towns.

I live in Salinas CA and the central coast is BEAUTIFUL. If you ever get the chance, come on up here and ride from Monterey down the 1 past Hearst Castle, that's one ride you won't forget. Plenty of scenery and twisty roads (but not difficult twisties) :D
