Reborn rider
Hi,
I am starting to ride after a 40 year hiatus. I am considering a bike purchase and have narrowed it down to a HD 1200 custom or a Suzuki S83. Does anyone have an opinion on either?

Hey! Welcome back to riding.
As far as what bike to get - just get what you like. Most bikes are well engineered these days, it's more a matter of what turns your crank.

With the re-emergence of naked bikes, one day soon, real men will be able to bring their motors out of the false shadows of molded plastic and show their motors to the world without fear of ridicule or shame.

Welcome aboard! I'm not familiar with the specifics of either bike, but as "cruisinflatout" mentioned, one of them will most likely stand out more for you than the other. Do a side-by-side of their specs, look at them next to each other, and then find one of each to sit on and check for comfort. Good luck in your decision... enjoy the forums.
Cheers,

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

sit on both
see which one you like or feels better
see if the stealer will allow a test ride
see which one you can afford
feel out which stealer has better parts and service dept. since you are bound to use thier service dept.
Figure out how far the stealership is from you too..nothing sucks more than having a stealer thats far away
Japanese enginerring Vs. US tradition.
