Is he going to die?
Is he going to die?
This guy I know from school decided to buy a bike after seeing mine parked along the street. My first thought when he told me was "wow, if you do pass the endorsement test, ride far far away from where I ride", but I just said "yeah, they're lots of fun". This is the kind of kid who I wouldn't even ride in a car with. So anyway, today he tells me he's looking at a 1990-something Ducati 950 on eBay for $750, $6 shipping. $6 shipping for a motorcycle? Last time I checked, a postage stamp for a letter was 33 cents. I straight up told him that if he's not getting scammed and actually gets the bike, he's going to die.
I'm a horrible person!

If he's a friend, just let him know what your concerns are, and try to steer him into the best possible situation. If you're not really that invested in the guy, just steer him to this website. We'll give him a scare.
The deal with the bike just seems to good to be real.

Now, you see, there's this crazy little thing that happens on eBay fro time to time...
Basically, you see a really good deal, and it's bona fide. So you place your bid. But what you don't realize is that there's about 10 other 'bid vultures' who are going to wait until the last 10 seconds of the auction to drop serious numbers on you.
I was bidding on a set of 'The Harvard Classics' once. Was sitting nice and happy at $100, until about 10 seconds before the auction closed. Within that time, there were seven bids, and the auction ended, in total, for over $250.
Dirty buggers.

well after a quick look of the very limited supply of ducatis on ebay theres none any where near the price. and anyone that trust a seller whos offering $6 shipping for a motorcycle is lieing or miss typed the shipping amount.
your friend sounds like he will be lucky to be ripped off rather than actually getting that as a first bike. maybe being ripped off will sour him on the whole idea and save his life.

he could be seeing 950 in the name or something and thinks its the CC... but more likely hes just making it all up. be funny to mess with him, "ya i got my dugato 950 for 600$ on ebay with free shipping"DivideOverflow wrote:a 950 pocket bike?scary! haha
Probably lying, Ive been looking at e-bay bikes lately, nothing that cheap.
You should point him at a scooter, tell him they are the "in" thing right now. Even then, 30mph is too much for some people to handle on two wheels.
