Hey everyone...

First of all, thankyou all for your prayers and your best wishes. They sure have meant a lot and have been a true blessing. I am sorry it has been so long since my last update, things have been extremely hectic being back and forth to the hospital and taking care of my 4 yr old brother and 7 yr old sister.

As of yesterday they pulled out his breathing tube. Right after that he was agitated and pulled out the feeding tube himself (stubborn kid). He's slowly coming off the drugs that had him in pretty much an induced coma. With this, he is going through a lot with dreams and hallucinations. He'll lay there and explain these terrible dreams to us, crying the whole way through it. He sees things, hears things, and even feels things. He's not all there right yet and it makes it really hard for him to understand things. He's constantly got my parents in there with him because he is so afraid for himself and for the rest of us. He's got good moods and very sad scared moods. We keep telling him that he is ok and we pray with him and it calms him most of the time, but other times he feels we are mocking him and making a joke of it and he gets upset.

In the matter of how he is doing physically, the fever he had spiked seems to be subsiding and his strength his slowly regaining. Today was his first day eating solid foods again. The back is still a mystery to us. The doctors haven't set a date yet to operate but are hoping to do so early in the coming week. One of the nurses even mentioned something of possibly not operating, which would be a miracle. We're are all hoping for this, the way he has been laying for nearly two weeks now, the bones may be fusing back together all by themselves in the proper manner. We will know more soon, but if he doesn't need the surgery it will be by the grace of God.

He also tried recalling the accident. He's not entirely sure of it yet, he had hit the turn the fastest yet, and set it up perfect, but from there all he remembers is a clicking and all of a sudden the bike was sideways and he was down and out. He's sketchy on whether or not he touched his front brake, he had blacked out and it's all kinda sketchy to him. I'm not expecting him to recall it at all and we were surprised that he started to talk about it.

Anyways, thats all that I have for today. I just want to say thanks again for all of your support. I will be taking the advice of the one member and will be printing this out to read to him, I know it will put a smile on his face to know that there are so many people out there who don't even know him and yet they care. Thanks a whole lot from me and my family everyone, and happy safe riding. God-bless.

I realize this is a little late in coming, but this is the one aspect of biking I don't enjoy. Reading about people that go hurt doing it.
I'm glad to hear that he's getter better, and might actually not need surgery. It'd be wonderful if he ever got to get back on a bike. But I'd be glad just knowing that he'll live a happy life.
It's tough to put into words exactly what all of us are feeling right now. All that I can say is if you ever need someone to talk to, I spend a lot of time on msn and icq. I hope everything turns out better then alright, and I know I'm not alone in wishing that I could be there to help out in some way.

You might want to consider printing this thread and taking it in for him to read. Or even read it to him yourself. Knowing that ALL of us are behind him, and hoping he will get better will hopefully boost his spirits. He has several thousand strangers who come here rooting for him. People who don't know him beyond that fact he had 2 wheels and got hurt. We all care. Make sure you let him know.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

What Sevulturus just said above....goes for me as well.

I pray that they both recover Fast. No fun being in Hospital, but it sure helps having such a great support system like family & friends there.

I'm very glad your brother is making an improvement, My heart goes out to him, I nearly lost my daughter at 18yrs old but through a brain Heamorrage, I thank God for each day of her life, she is now 26yrs and bringing up her son on her own, see God can work miracles. And I can relate to how the family are feeling. But be assured That Jesus is with him all the way. There is much love out here, yes even from strangers, but really we are all one big family in my eyes and God's eyes. I will continue to pray For your brother's very special life. What about the other person, How is he? cause I've been praying for both Steven and Andrew.
I'm not riding fast...........Just flying low!

Sorry I am late in posting, but your brother, family, and your new friend have been in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad to hear he's awake, eating, and surgery may not be done.

Steven is doing alright from what I know. His accident was mroe severe. A Jeep Liberty crossed the yellow and hit him head on, both around 45 MPH I guess. He's got some brain damage they say, but he seems to be recovering pretty well and he has started talking again.

As of today, they switched the drugs my brother is on and he seems to be doing better with less hallucinations and nightmares. I'll post another update soon. I am going down tomorrow to celebrate my fathers 50th birthday down there in the waiting room, can't miss that and we all wanna be right there with andrew for it as well. Thanks again everyone, and god-bless.

First I want to apologize for no recent updates, things have been hectic this summer but I'm back at school now so I've got some time. Andrew is doing great, he's moving along through therapy very well... Hopefully the 13th of september will be the day he can have his back brace off. He's in good spirits and everything and it's incredible how he is moving along. Doc says he should recover 100% from it.

He says thanks for all the support and to ride safe. Take care everyone, and thanx a million.
