New to this post.Looks like theres some interesting discussions going on here.....Will be looking foreward to posting and comments. I own a 2002 Suzuki Volusia and Just Purchased a 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner S....And Ride all year here in Virginia.

Thats the reason why I bought the Yamaha. I love the zuki, as seen by the odometer ( 20000 miles) but had been doing alot of 2 up riding, and the stopping power just wasnt there that I wanted. Plus the extra 50 plus ponies doesnt hurt either! Im glad you have and like your zuki too.We had a local volusia club here, which did local rides and food outings, and all were great people.Ive heard the club disbanned, so Ive been looking for other rides around these parts.If u hear of any, please send the info my way. Ive gotta get a digital camera to post pics.

Yeah, I can imagine on two-up the stopping power wouldn't be all that fun. I haven't done any two-up yet, but planning to this summer a little bit. Considering I'm a big guy at about 290 lbs. I doubt it'll like doing anything over 130 or 140 more. Either way though, nice Stratoliner! I honestly don't know of any here, although if you go to VolusiaRiders.com, they have a local meet forum that seems to do pretty well. Also, just so you know, we have a member here that goes by MotoF150. I guarantee you that you will find some of his posts and completely disagree with him, so join the club! lol He's got the M50 and absolutely hates it, yet keeps it! Oh, and according to him, we've gotta make sure to grease our chains! lol

welcome. i grew up in chesapeake. great area. it's odd, i'm only one state down but there's something about crossing that state line... the trees look greener, the sky is bluer, and the roads just seem so much smoother.

The stratoliner was a bit slow to catch on here, but there are more and more of them on the road all the time.

I dont like the extra weight of the strato, untill I get out on the Interstate....way less bumps and my but burn doesnt start for about 150 miles or so. So the zukes duty will be for around town jaunts, and the Strat for longer trips....I have a toy hauler camper, that only gives me 8 ft. of storage length....A bit more if I do the catty-corner trick...so the bikes both just barely fit( one at a time, no room for both) . I carry one or the other on our vacations, and thier especially fun up in the Blue ridge mountains....only way to travel up there. Ive read some of the rants on the volusia....Ive had none of those problems....Uncorked the par valve.....Put on some vance&hines straight shots, and Dropped in a k&n filter, and jet kit....iridium plugs....and really woker her up. Strato's arent as popular here either, cuz they aint cheep! I had to pay a premium price to get a local strato s......Waited awhile too ....Was worth it. Thanks to all on the warm welcome wishes. Will be great when warmer weather gets here again....Snow flurries today....

Dean....where in carolina are you? I travel to Raleigh area often. And always ride down to the outer banks....Its only 90 minutes from here.3 hours to Raleigh.

don't know if you've ever heard of a town called pittsboro but that's where i live. it's about 30 min southwest from raleigh. and i work in chapel hill. if you're down this way let me know. i won't be able to ride with you though (i've yet to get a bike and it'll be about a year from now before my finances allow me to).
