Kids harnesses are made for the motorcycle, Im not sure how well they work or how hard it is to hook up but I know I have seen them. I know you can order childrens wear, but I dont think Ive heard of a snell aproved helmet as the industry doesnt want to be responsible for children being killed on Motorcycles. For that reason some shops would order things, which they could. Research is the best bet.

I trained my daughter 'Monique' to be 'Bike Familiar' from the word GO.

When she was a baby I'd start up the Ultra & go get her & slowly walk with her in my arms, closer & closer until she ended up sitting on the idling bike. Then I'd Rev it up bit bi bit until she was de-sensitized. Next was to put her little hand on the throttle & get her to help me rev it.

After a few months I placed her on the back with me & we crawled 10 feet. - Sorry the photos are not good.


Then progressed longer & longer distances. Then when she was about 2-ish we went up the road & back, Alice Springs does not have a traffic problem....

So now she was ready to around the suburbs a bit, so I borrowed a mates Electraglide Sidecar & got her used to sitting still & behaving, which she did without any dramas.

Now that she has proved herself I took her for a real ride around the place on my Ultra. Never exceeding 60KPH-30MPH.


Then I wondered about the possible merits of a Child harnesses, after a day contemplating I thought, how it would be If I dropped or slid out the bike with Her attached to it.....Hmmmm....I didn't like that idea so I didn't bother with one at all.

Next stage is to buy a real M/C Helmet & jacket for her & then we'll venture further out. I'll never speed on these rides as well....you know, it's not worth it right? Exactly!

Now I don't recommend this type of thing on most bikes but the Ultra has the ergonomics for kids. I do not take her out on the Roadking or Sporty!!

For that she'll have to grow up....allot!

At least now she is really comfy around bikes....

I am not used to seeing sidecars on the left side. Crazy Aussies, driving on the wrong side. If you guys weren't so cool, there would be trouble.

That is a very nice set up you have there, it looks like you could ride that bike for 12 hours a day and not get sore.

Well, I didn't ride while my kids were young since it just wasn't practical. Now they are 10 and 15 and I'm back into it. Helmets are the law in my state, so there's no question (never would be actually). Wife's got an HJC with a flip up face shield that fits both kids. Good enough. My bike has rear luggage and my wife's has a sissy bar. Some instruction on where to hold and how to lean with me, and they took to it like ducks to water.

As for other kids, I'll only take them if thier parents approve. And we don't see many kids younger than mine, so they're all good to go.

Some of the Harmesses attach to you, not the bike, so she would be going where you go. I still dont know if that is any better.

I have to imagine that somebody out there has got to be smart enough to have figured out how to design a harness. Ski's for example are designed to detach under the right circumstances. There must be some way to solve that problem.

We are very lucky here in Alice, No Traffic!!! = Very little chance of a Crash, however I know it could happen so I'm extra Vigilant.

So far so good.

Anyhow it's Winter now so won't be taking my daughter on the bike for a couple of months.
