Ok i did it

#1 Unread post by fra8877 »

Alright i really made a stupid move now. I put diesel by accident in my 94' suzuki intruder. I know that was dumb but its done now. I just drove down the road and it started running funny. So now i have it parked i just want to know if i caused any serious damage in that minute or two of riding. And is there any way i can drain this stuff myself or do i got to take it in. Thank you.

You should be able to remove the hose from the fuel tanks petcock to the carburetors, at the carburetors. Now put the end of the hose into a gas can. Next step would be to put the petcock into the PRIME position. You also need to remove or drain the float bowls on the carburetors.

Was it dark at the gas station, or did some hottie wonder by.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Sadly there was no hotties and the gas station was well lit, ha. Weird ive been riding for 2 years or so, every day, and ive never made that mistake.

My only other question is do you think i could take it to a car mechanic to do that. The place that does my service is closed on mondays for some reason. I would do it myself, im just not confident about it. The model i have is designed in a complicated way heh. That doesnt sound too hard though i guess i'll look at it tommarow.

Your petcock should have a PRIME, an ON, and a RES positions. The ON and the RES positions should be vacuum operated and the PRIME position lets fuel flow all the time.

Your carburetors should have a drain on them. If it's like a lot of bikes all you'll need is a screwdriver and maybe take the tank off to drain it.
