I have ordered lots of parts off Ebay, I never had any problems. I never tried a whole bike. I would make sure the seller has lots of positive feedback. I would be very wary of anyone selling a bike with no feedback.

Just make sure you use secure payment options that e-bay insures. Otherwise you may get ripped off. Use paypal etc.

Like someone else said - I would make sure you could go see it yourself. I guess I'd buy a brand new bike that I had seen in a showrooom, but I doubt I'd buy a used bike I'd never seen in person. I see everything on ebay, occasionally a good deal if it's from someone sellng a personal bike. But the people who sell a ton of stuff on there tend to wildly overprice things. I see tons of non-mint bikes with reserve prices hundreds of dollars over the 'perfect condition' price.

I bagged my CB250N off of eBay, cost me £107.00 about £150.00us
I dealt with someone who had a lot of good feedback. Like everything else expensive I get I checked out what there feedback was from buyers and what for first. He even delievered it <along with some spares> when passing through the City I live in. Bit of a result that.

I've also got a CZ125(£105), a CB400N engine and frame with registration docments (£40) and lots of spares.

I'd suggest that you know exactly what you are looking for, you vet the seller against their previous sales, ask anything that seems to not be mentioed in the auction and set yourself an absolute limit of what you are willing to spend, inc. shipping.

If any one of those criteria isnt met dont bid, be patient the right auction will come along.

There is no reason why eBay auctions shouldnt be good - but you have to take care with them as they are, at least on eBay.co.uk, "Buyer beware".

If you cannot inspect the bike, you cannot even be sure that it will start. Be very careful about ordering something as expensive as a bike off of e-bay if you cannot go and look at it, in person first.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
