Nickname is Steve. Got that freshman year of high school because a buddy was screwing around with a girl he'd just met and introduced me as 'Steve'. I played along and so she kept calling me Steve. Well she turned out pretty cool (eventually wound up in our circle of friends) but my other buddies played along for a while too. Finally I told her my real name and she grinned and said she knew for a while and was just playing along as well.

After that the name just kind of stuck. I don't use it in college though. It wouldn't hold the same significance since my high school friends and I don't go to the same college.

As for Shiv, when I first started using the series of tubes, I found out about things called 'screen names' and was like "oh snap, something to represent me online? Gasp! It has to be cool!"

So naturally I just did a dy/dx (derivation) of my last name and came up with Shivalyn, which I thought was totally awesome and cool only later to find out that it was the name of a character in a book by...some chick, forget her name. The book is called The Thief's Gamble.

So I was like, 'alright, I'll just be original again and shorten it to Shiv'.....only later to find out that 'shiv' is a real word at which point I just gave up and kept it at that.
Have fun on the open /¦\

Skooter, ask BuzZz he's the one who gave it to me.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Ha! And they said those hypnotism-by-mail flashcards wouldn't work. You don't even remember the one legged, six fingered gypsy fortune teller (disguise is everything  ) who served your school lunch everyday in grade 2, do you? Or noticed that you got a specific special lunch? Or why you can't remember a single afternoon from grade 2?
