Brand Newbie in CT
Hey everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Bilal. I'm from Connecticut and this is my first post in these forums, but I've been scouring Total Motorcycle for months now learning every little bit I can in order to approach m/c riding the safest and most effective way possible.
I decided to finally make my first post today, because today is a milestone for me. The very beginning. I just bought a '90 GS500E that seems mechanically sound. I spent weeks looking for deals during the winter and checking out various bikes I wasn't happy with. I decided on the bike because it seemed to be in amazing shape (I'm not really familiar with motorcycles, but I've worked on cars for enough years to understand some of the basics) and because it was recommended by this site and a thousand others as a good beginner's bike. The guy I bought it from attested to its lasting power, though. He'd owned it for ten years without getting tired of it. It fits well too. I'm 6'3" approx. 180lbs and sitting on it seems fairly comfortable.
I tend to be a little long-winded. So, I'll cut this as short as I can. I'm pretty excited. I can't wait to take the MSF course and actually ride this thing.
