Hey 15 year old. You don't want to hear this, but I will tell you anyway.

You aren't mature enough for a bike that has more than 70 horsepower. End of story. Nor do your dirt skills qualify you.

Also, I'm 6'0 235-240ish and I started on a 250cc bike with 28hp. Guess what? It was still faster than most cars on the road, it got up to 80mph, and it was a hell of a lot easier to learn on than any of my current bikes.

Your size doesn't matter. That is what most people don't understand, they think because they are a couple pounds over average, that the bike will suddenly go slow! The power to weight ratio is still very good on motorcycles, even if you are over 300lbs. You calling the ninja 250 a girl's bike just shows your immaturity and ignorance. If you went out and got one of the sport bikes you wanted, any rider with a spec of talent and experience could leave you in the dust on a ninja 250 (as long as it isn't just a boring straight road).

Don't come and ask for advice and then ignore everyone because it isn't what you want to hear. We have enough dumb kids showing up doing that, and ending up scaring themselves stupid, or hurting themselves. If you don't want the truth, go find a forum full of squids who spend half of their time on the pavement. If you want to learn right, and you value your skin, here are your choices:
Ninja 250, Ninja 500, GS500F, Buell Blast, (or any cruiser 800ccs or under).
2008 BMW K1200S
2003 Z1000 - For Sale
1979 KZ650B - Work in progress
2005 Ducati SS 1000DS - sold :'(
1994 VFR750 Interceptor - sold
1984 VF700F Interceptor - sold
2004 Hyosung GV250 - sold

motercross means nothing.

Motorcross is racing, and means something. We've got a motorcrosser here in class... I wouldn't put him on a street bike for any money. Kid's nuts, abuses the "poo poo" out of his bike, his truck, his PS2. Crashes every second race, and basically wrecks "poo poo" hard. I don't even like it when he touches my bike.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Coming from a guy that did both of those in the dirt. It still doesn't mean much. In some cases it means you have bad habits to unlearn.

Are you looking for real advice, or are you looking for someone to validate what you want?

While riding in the dirt is a lot harder on you physically, it's 'easier' than riding on the street because you don't have 3000+ pound steel monsters talking on cell phones ready to turn you into pizza without even realizing they've done so.

You're 15 1/2, and you've got your learners permit for driving. Right now, you aren't fully qualified to drive a car in traffic by yourself, much less a bike. It has nothing to do with your ability to do so, it has everything to do with your experience. You don't have any that is worth anything right now.

You can obviously do whatever you want, but you'll be doing yourself a disservice to discount the ninja 250 and 500, the gs500f, and some of the other "small" sportbikes. As others have said, this is your first bike not your last. If you look at the resell value on any of those bikes, you can almost always get what you paid for them after you've learned on them. You've got a full life ahead with plenty of time to buy the big speed bikes after you've put some time into learning. Of course everyone wants to be an expert the second they sit on a bike - but for those of us who want to live to see old age, we realize that in reality we need to learn and put in the time to do so.

One thing to keep in mind... a "little" Ninja 250 will out-accelerate any low-mid priced sports car, and the WRX STi and the Evo X can barely keep up with it... That's saying something right there, seeing as a corvette is about the same 0-60 times...
