So I've been looking at some Honda Shadows as a first bike....good choice?

Yes. :) Good second bike, too, for that matter, if you wanna buy one of the bigger ones.

Everyone I know that owns a shadow, loves it. They appear to have quite good resale vaule also, if you care about that.
