Anyone heard any info on the 2008 Harley Davidsons?

#1 Unread post by spoiler »

Has anyone heard anything about the 2008 Harleys yet? All I've been able to find so far, is someone said they might eliminate the duece. I don't think anyone will cry about that... Any other rumors or facts? Engine sizes? Colors? Models? Whatever...

Harley has tightened their security to the point where NOBODY knows for sure what's coming until it arrives. The bigger motor and 6-speed for '07 took everyone by surprise, one can only imagine what '08 will bring.

Well, probably not much in the way of new models I would think. At least not for North America, anyway, but Europe will likely see that new hopped up Sporty.

Last year in 2006 all the HD Dealers were advertizing the 06 models claiming these models will be the last models without the closed loop emission system and the 07 models will be loaded up with emission controls and it will be illegal to remove the mufflers and so on. I guess they lied, they changed the engines on some bikes, but many models are the same bike. Maybe in 2008 all the HD bikes will have emission controls.

Al Gore says global warming is a problem, so tighter emission controls are needed on all HD's, but its ok for Al Gore to travel around the world on a full size jet and its ok for him to drive his full size SUV and to heat his mansion with natural gas. You HD guys should have a guilty conscience riding around all day with toxic gas fumes coming outta ur exhaust and killing baby seals and melting the polar ice caps. but the biggest thing Al Gore complains about is ur burning gas and adding to pollution and global warming riding a bike for nothing, for no good purpose, just for enjoyment, Al Gore would understand if you used ur bike for meaningfull transportation like running to the store for soy protein milk and organic carrots, or for using ur bike riding back and forth to work. Wasting gas and filling the air with toxic fumes just to go for a ride makes no sence to him. Al Gore will tell you when ur grass is short on ur lawn and doesnt need cut do you get ur lawn mower out and run it over the lawn just for enjoyment? No? They why do you ride ur bike for enjoyment for?

No rumors here, but the dealers and sales types I've spoken to in my area are hoping for a V-Rod-based touring bike. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and their threatened smog testing for bikes is making it harder for them to talk new buyers into the old Stage-whatever routine to fix any EPA-related lean/heat/detonation/performance issues.

V-Rod Touring Bike

#8 Unread post by spoiler »

Hello, thanks to all for your posts to my inquiry. I was just reading the post the man left about a V-rod touring bike...

Interesting... you know... Last summer a guy came through my area riding what I thought was touring bike.. it had a Road Glide fairing & Hard bags, with a hard tour pack... I thought... that's weird, someone put a Road Glide fairing on crotch rocket! Then I went closer, and was BLOWN AWAY to see that it was a V-Rod! Amazing looking bike!

I talked to the guy, he was from California... Apparently some company out there makes a kit to mount the Road Glide fairing to the V-Rod... If this is old news, sorry guys... but for those that havn't seen it, it looks GREAT. I know it's hard to picture, but I have to tell you, It looks awesome. The guy made himself a water cooled HD touring bike. lol. Very cool. I'll look on google real quick and see if theres a pic of one on there.

Wow, found a pic, not too good, but gives you an idea...

The picture won't open immediately, so just hit refresh when the window opens... the pic kinda sucks though... If you could see the v-rod from a side shot, with the hard bags, hard tourpack & road glide fairing, you'd be impressed... it's so cool... like a sleek, lowrider tour bike... can't describe it.

With the full dresser look, the V-Rod is awesome... Wish I had taken a pic of it. It was a very sleek look... Anyone else have any photos or info on this?

Maybe someone out there is a wiz with photoshop and could make us a nice side-shot of the road glide tour parts on a V-rod......

Thanks, Spoiler.

This topic recently came up on our Harley forum here. There's a few places making "Road Rod" conversions, here's one of them: http://www.partsmag.com/0501/V-Rod-Proj ... -0501.html

Any Word Or Rumor About ABS on the Cruisers?

#10 Unread post by OhioHarleyGuy »

For the 3rd year in a row, I am holding my money in hopes that they will put the ABS on the big baggers.

Can't understand why they only make it available to the cops and not the public. If it is safer for them it should be safer for me.

Also can't understand why I would throw down the big bucks for a new one if they don't have ABS.

If they don't do it this year, I'll probably look for a used cop bike.

Waiting for the cruisers to catch up with the competition.
John
