moto guzzi v750 breva 'entry-level'?
Can anyone comment on the Moto Guzzi 750 Breva as an entry-level bike? It's billed as such; yet as previously noted in this forum, not all beginning riders are equal. This rider initially practiced on a restored 1961(?) Honda 305 Dream then took 23 years off from riding before completing the Rider's Edge course (on a Buell Blast). Purchasing 1st bike has been confusing, as "expert advice" varies extensively. The Breva seems forgiving, compared with initial choice of BMW R1100, but offers more gratifying ride and performance than Buell Blast. Any specific reasons why a smaller cc engine would be preferred? Entering highway on a smaller bike (especially with tractor trailers) seems terror-inspiring...the Breva holds its own which inspires more confidence. What about hp & torque, weight, specific seat-height, adjustability of suspension in considering 1st bike? Feedback welcome, as I'm working in a vaccuum here, figuring it out as I go...preferring to remain unmaimed!
I went with an FZ6 as my first bike, which uses the R6 motor. So far I'm loving it. Plenty of power and zip yet docile enough that I'm not afraid of it. I rode 250's during the MSF and for me, while they had the power, I'm more comfortable on my 600. Personally, while there are advantages to smaller cc bikes, if you feel comfortable on it I'd say go for it. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the bike however.

I think the Breva would be a fine choice although some news have said they have found it heavy. It has a very nice power delivery and low seat height so it will build confidence also it should hold its price better than japanese model.

Four Wheels Good Two Wheels Better
at 401lbs and 445lbs all gassed up its can't be called heavy. 41hp and 41lbs of tourqe. that tourqe at 2750 rpm will make a great city bike. at 8k new i wouldnt be my first choice. but its italian and a Guzzi so different then the norm. other naked bike that you may want to look at is a ducati 620 monster. same class and can be had for 1k less or only 6595$ for the dark.

Yes, it's "Entry level"
The Ducati Monster 620 is another great beginner if you are into Italians (as was mentioned).
I think the Guzzi will win out on the comfort aspect (for you and your pillion if you should have one) Power wise it's very do-able and beginner friendly.
