whats your budget? I was going to buy some boots for $120 but I said why not, I should just wait one month and buy a better pair.

I am planning on getting one of these boots. They are all priced around $200

For example, there are no "protective as all hell" boots that are "shoe-style" boots. You want "protective as all hell" then you need full-on track boots. You want "shoe-style" then they won't be as protective.

So, you're gonna need some compromises in there ... or start your own boot company and make them.
I know I won't get all those things, but I'm looking for advice on what boot best comes in the middle.....! Or at the very least your guyses (sp?) two cents on what's more important of the list.
In that case, all I care about is being protective and being able to walk comfortably in them.

That means I need track boots, then I go to the drugstore and get some nice Dr. Scholls inserts. Track boots offer the best protection, but most don't even have arch support, so they pretty much suck for walking around in. Get some nice, comfy, gel inserts at the drugstore and you'll be rockin' protective AND comfortable boots.

I think street/touring boots are the way to go. Whats the point of spending money on motorcycle specific footware if it dosn't even cover the ankles? Ankles need protection too... and your riding pants won't provide that.

OK boys and girls tell me what you think....

Sidi Escapes: http://www.newenough.com/boots/sport_st ... boots.html

SetUp Vented Pegasos: http://www.newenough.com/boots/sport_st ... _boot.html

Alpinestars SMX-1's: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/it ... Division=1

I like the Sidi's the most, followed by the A-stars, then the SetUp's.

I need feedback ASAP....

Thanks,
Dave

Out of those three I would take the Setups. I don't like those short boots for riding. But, one of your criteria was that it be a short boot and those A* and Sidis match better than the Setups. Out of those two, I like the Sidis for the black color. I don't like all that busy coloring. Again, just what I'd pick. You get what's good for you.

the setup looks the nicest because it looks like it gives the most protection. You know if you save up about 40 more dollars you can get the Alpine stars SMX-4, which are the ones I have which are very, very hard and sturdy.

Hello all. I have also been looking for some boots to start myself off with.

I like some of the Sidis and Alpinestars, but I am having trouble finding places that sell them in my area. Theres no way I will buy any pair of boots that I cant try on and walk around in. I live in Raleigh, NC, and the closest dealer that the Sidi site says carrys Sidi products is 3hr away. Too far just for a "maybe" boot. Does anyone have any idea how to find some boots from these manufacturers locally? Like, what chain stores carry these brands? Raleigh is a fairly big city, 2nd largest in the state, so they SHOULD be around somewhere I would think. Thanks for the help.

I just bought a pair of Triumph-branded (yeah yeah yeah, y'all) Expeditions that I love: they're super comfy (I've worn them pretty much all day for the past 3 days and my feet aren't protesting at all), very sturdy (non-skid, oil/chemical resistant soles, thick shins, ankle support, reinforced toes) and quite chic (I think; several people told me how snappy my new "shoes" looked today - most of the boot was up under my jeans).

I got 'em at Phoenix International Motorsports on 7th St. in d/t Phoenix.
