Hi ya'll !!!

#1 Unread post by Hf Nut »

Hi everyone! I've been lurking and figured it was about time to join in all the fun. Some background info on me: I'm 43 and live in Columbia SC. I got back into riding last spring after being away for several years (I am sure you heard this one before! ). I started riding back in 1984 and my first bike was a Vision 550 (anyone remember that one) Man, that was a fantistic performing bike. I rode it for about 4 years while in was in college and eventually sold it. Big mistake! Oh well... fast foward into the future. I got the itch again (never reallly lost if ya know what I mean!!) and bought a Nighthawk 250 to brush up on old skills again. Rode it all last summer/fall and then I moved up to a Nighthawk 750 (notice the reoccuring theme here  ) Great bike, loads-o-fun!!!! Very smooth. It looks to be warming up here (70s) so maybe this afternoon....

Kudos to everyone here giving really helpful info!!!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!!! Yep, ham radio and shortwave listening are among my many hobbies/passions/methods to rid myself of what little disposible income I have! Hey everyone, spring isn't too far away so hopefully everyone will be able to ride before too long.

Also, I really agree with a lot of posters here and say to all the new and recently returned riders that you can start with a smaller bike until you feel very comfortable with riding it then, you can always resell it quickly (usually for what you paid for it) then move up to a larger bike later on. Don't worry about being stuck with a small bike they are quite easy to resell. It's not a problem. Try to buy a good used one then move up to a larger one after a riding season or so. Heck, a lot of people really enjoy the smaller bikes and stick with them. The 250s are a lot of fun especially around town.

Welcome to the forum!

Remember the Vision? I just changed ones oil today! One hell of a machine. If yamaha had worked the kinks out of the 82 BEFORE releasing it then the 80's would have been a totally different m/c world.
