If there was any doubt that totalmotorcycle is more interested in making a quick buck on adware than in providing a forum for motorcycle enthusiasts, it has disappeared now.
From Mike: The above is 101% wrong, Total Motorcycle is here not to make a quick buck at all, it's here to support riders and motorcycling worldwide and provide a friendly, helpful and useful site for all, FREE of charge. We run ads just to help pay for the bills and I constantly reduce the amount of ads so members are less and less annoyed by them.

have to say i checked out a bunch of bike forums before landing here, and I really like this place....Its like a motorcyclist village...all types, even a couple of village idiots.
If they turn a buck using adware while providing this place...more power to em.
So quit whining.

Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

No one makes you come here, no one makes you post here. This is essentially a free service for you. Now - you don't like popups, that's fair. But you have to understand that there's several thousand dollars worth of bandwidth made available every month so that you CAN post here.ninja79 wrote:If there was any doubt that totalmotorcycle is more interested in making a quick buck on adware than in providing a forum for motorcycle enthusiasts, it has disappeared now.
Everyone is going to try to be really political with you, because all in all we're all bikers and we should at least pretend to get along. But, it's been a long day for me. So I'm not.
If you don't like it. Talk to Mike privately, you can PM him.
If you don't like it. Look into a popup blocker
If you don't like it. LEAVE.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I want to clarify a few things:
1. I am not against ads in general. That was _not_ my point. I am against overly intrusive ads (popups, popunders, audio). As an example, I stopped using hotmail because it looks like a flashing billboard and now use gmail. The text ads on gmail are very unintrusive and actually more effective because they are context-sensitive.
2. To those who suggest that I donate to the site if I want the popups to disappear -- that's exactly what I proposed in my previous post about this issue, a few months ago. That whole thread also disappeared into ether.
3. Those who suggest ever stronger adware fighting measures are missing the point: I shouldn't have to do that since no respectable website stoops to popups/audio ads.

I have nothing agaisnt them making money, they work hard and put a lot of time in to keep this informative site on the net, its a small inconveience you have to put up with to have axccess to a very informative, helpfull site for us bikers, I for one have learned a lot from this site and I try to help others with the information I know, I feel good that maybe just one member of this site maybe took my advice and purchaced another bike other than the bike I own. I just used the advice from others and purchaced a helmet they recommended and the sales of Kawasaki 250 Ninjas are thru the roof because of this site.
