VTR250 torque values?

#1 Unread post by Gadjet »

Quick question for those that might know

What are the proper torque values for the front axle/pinch bolts for a 1990 Honda VTR250?

The GF's ex took the front wheel off to get the tire replaced yesterday, and they have no manual for the bike to say what the bolts should be torqued to when reassembling.

The last bike about that size that I worked on was 30 for the axle and 13 for the pinch bolts. What size are the bolts?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Go get a manual.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

The bolts look to be M6(?) I didn't get a close look at it last night - I was more concerned about the Red Green brace job that Merlyn used to hold the bike up so he could take the wheel off.

I just love having friends who decide to work on their bikes without benefit of proper tools or the like. (Laura at least knows to bring her bike to me to get any work done on it, Merlyn is another story entirely)

for some goofy-assed reason my all makes cd lists an xr250r, but no vtr 250 (if it's the same bike then we're in business) the front wheel spindle nut is 58 ft/lbs and the spindle clamp nut at 10 ft/lbs

thanks Shorts. I'll pass on the info.

I really hope Merlyn enjoys trying to torque the bolts back in place with his brand new, el-cheapo beam type torque wrench.

(can you tell I have little faith in his maintenance skills?)
