2007 Honda Interceptor vs BMW F800ST

For now I'm gonna stick with what I can flatfoot.

LOL! The Trophy is "only" 530 lbs dry, but has a high center of gravity. At first, watching my wife back that sucker out of the garage on her tip toes, back down our inclined driveway, then turn and back onto the narrow front walk, was more than I could take. I would look away, waiting for the big "CRUNCH". But the "crunch" has never happened.

What do you intend to do with this bike? Sport riding? Touring? Commuting?

Do you have a superstition against buying last year of production bike?

I'm looking at sport touring bikes myself and just got back from the Honda dealer. The 2007 VFRs are really nice, but not much has changed from the '06 models, so if I decide to go for the Honda, I'll look for a '06 leftover to save $1K or so. Still have yet to check out the BMW R1200ST and the Ducati ST3.

I intend to do all three. The interceptor seems like the best bike to handle all three.

Nope no superstition against buying last years model. I've only found one 2006 leftover in Conn so far and its white (without ABS)

White wouldn't be the worst color one can choose, but I don't like white.
I'm thinking of putting in a low offer on that leftover and see if the dealer bites.

For whatever reason I can not find a new interceptor with ABS in Conn. I figure if your going to spend that much money anyway mite as well go all the way. I know that BMW F800 ST loaded is $12,750 at my local dealer. A 2007 interceptor with ABS is $11,599.

Every time a used interceptor shows up on craigslist it sells right away and so do Honda Magna's.

BTW, that ST3 is sweet, but has a more aggressive seating position than the interceptor. Triumph ST is decent too.

BIKE recently did a comparison, where they claimed the BMW barely edged out the Interceptor.

I think they should send me both bikes so I can help.

TWO (Two Wheels Only) did a comparison with the F800 ST and it was quite good with 50mpg but a 16 liter tank (4gal).

The brit mags are usually the better ones to read up on if you want a good review on the bike since they go all out during a review on bikes they ride. They give you breaking power/ distance, mileage, ergos etc.

So Mr. Gompers, ya finally moving up on the ladder huh? Since your in CT insurance on the Beemer may actually be much higher than the japanese sport bike.

Yeah its time for an upgrade from the shadow vlx. I was thinking of getting a bigger cruiser like the triumph speed master or vulcan 900. One thing I learned over the last year of riding the vlx is the laid back sitting posture of cruisers kills my back. All the bumps & vibrations just get transferred to my back like its an additional shock absorber or something.

I can't tolerate the extreme lean forward posture of sport bikes, so that leaves standards. I think of the interceptor as a standard with plastics.
As far as the insurance game goes I've been getting some wild quotes.
As low as $550 for the BMW and as high as $750 for the interceptor. Kinda odd since the BMW costs more.

I don't know what I'll end up doing since I still need to sell my bike first.
Then again if a nice used 2001+ magna shows up I mite get that instead.
