I just purchased a 1992 VMax. The bike looks great, but I haven't really gotten to ride it (just got it yesterday). These are questions I have is:
What would cause a ground wire to heat up soo much it burns its covering off?
Is this something I can fix or should it be taken to the shop and mentioned?
Any Help?

The ground wire heats up and melts the insolation off when it's connected directly to the HOT side of the battery. Can you find the short circuit?
