New bike...

...well, new to me anyway. I had a post on here before debating a few different options on a new bike and got lots of advice in every direction. I ended up stumbling across an unexpected, but very good deal. I bought myself a 1996 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic. Well below blue book value and lots of nice upgrades - new tires, cleaned and re-jetted carbs, sissybar/backrest, different forward controls, and the previous owner liked chrome and replaced a number of things with new chrome parts. Now he decided he had to have something bigger, so, it's mine now. Picked it up tonight. Thanks to all that offered advice last week!

Congratulations, Coach! The 800 Classic is a great cruiser - you're gonna love it. How about posting a pic? We like pics...

Just took it out to gas up for my 100 mile commute later this afternoon. I like it. Think I will probably put the controls back to stock eventually though. The previous owner put a different forward control kit on that puts them about 5 or 6 inches farther out than stock. My legs are almost
(but not quite) straight while riding. I want to see how it is for a while before I make that decision though. I think I need to sync the carbs too, but otherwise, it's running real good. Late last night I removed the sissybar and fabricated a pseudo luggage rack to mount my hard trunk on. Not my favorite look, but I have to have it to lock some things up while I'm coaching. So, for now, function over appearance. Soon as the season's over, it's coming off.

Gee! That was a nice bike! Vulcan is known to be the "king of cruisers" because it has the largest V-twin engine, an amazing torque and superb craftmanship! It's really cool to have this!

By the way the latest model- the 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classics is already available..
