You could put a microphone in the exhaust, mount a 600w amp with a 12" driver (speaker) on the bike and amp the sound of the exhaust. :D Or if you really want, just run an MP3 to the amp and you can make it sound like a big V-Twin or a GSXR or even a train! LOL.

No, they're not. A supersport bike is a super high performance bike that is extremely sensitive to rider input. On these bikes, even small mistakes are *not* forgiven and often result in spectacular crashes and fatalities.

It sounds to me like you want to get a bike because it's cool. You have to have the noise of a supersport and you want to say that you have a supersport.

That's the type of attitude that will get you in serious trouble. Leave the ego behind if you want to get into sport bikes.

Where are you located? If you're reasonably close by I will stuff you in some spare gear and take you for a ride on my non-supersport machine, assuming you aren't too cool to be seen "riding "dog"." (Your friends will not recognize you with a lid on anyway.) After we get back we can talk about first bikes.

If all you want is noise, cut the exhaust off the bike. Leave the header/downpipes and most of what runs under the bike, but chop the rest off.

You'll get your loud noise... you'll get tinnitus, and all kinds of fines. People anywhere near you will hate your guts, but you'll be loud.

To anyone that doesn't ride all sportbikes look the same.

To someone who does ride they'll either be worth knowing and respect you no matter what you ride. Or they'll be posers who only care about numbers and what bike you have.

Appearance might be important, but I happen to think that a dated looking ninja 250 looks a lot better then a road rashed R6. And seeing a rashed bike makes me want to punch the owner in the head.

Oh, and FYI, keeping the bike at low revs and just idling around will ruin the engine.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Honestly, you are getting caught up to much into the sport bike rider hype. Riding a motorcycle is so much more than just getting noticed. If you're doing it for that reason, then its I belief that you shouldn't be around a motorcycle. You will end up getting hurt and ruining a beautiful machine. Not trying to be a jerk... but those are the wrong reasons to get into something like motorcycling.

Where do you live? In most other countries outside of the USA, you have whats called a tiered licensing system. You just can't start off on just about anything. And for good reason.

Can you learn on a 600+ supersport bike? Yes, but the bike will be working against you, you will most likely develop bad habits without proper training, more likely to crash, more likely to quit the sport since it will be expensive to maintain and repair that type of motorcycle, I could go on and on. The opposite is true with a smalled or less powerful machine.

And don't get caught up in the whole manufactuer wars/hype... like oh I hate aprilla, ducati is better! Or I hate suzuki, Kawasaki all the way! All of the current 600's are pretty much are very identical to one another.

And don't buy a bike based on how it sounds!

Edit: Wow, after all of that I forgot to mention one of the most important things...

Learning on a smaller or less powerful bike will teach you proper technique FASTER. You will become a faster rider SOONER. And on the street, its the type of rider you are, not the type of bike you have. I see it all the time here where I live.

Found this here... TMW has info on the 250 btw

Did a quick search, TMW probably has info but I didn't know what years those bikes were made, since we don't have those in the states.

Looks like a cool bike! It has 13bhp, can't get anymore newbie friendly than that!

Btw, the Ninja 250r has about 33 bhp, and the 500 has about 52 bhp.
The '98 cbr250rr has about 40bhp.
The only difference between these bikes is the number of cylinders in the motorcycle, leading to a different exhaust note.

Unless someone that has much more knowledge about the hondas can point me straight, I'd say they are as capable as the kawasaki's

Edit: Whats the top speed and acceleration? Something managable for one new at motorcycling, thats for sure. That is what matters
