Yeah, I agree. I loved the unassuming look of the old WRX. It was a rather plain looking sedan, but that was cool, because it was real performance machine.

Those headlights are channeling Nissan more than Mazda. And that awful front bumper is channeling every other Civic I see on the road.

I hate the new model. "Scan" and I were just talking about it the past few days. We traded in our '02 WRX for an '07 Outback. I just can't get used to the Outback. We wanted more room for the kids, but I miss the WRX soooooooooo much. So we thought, okay, we'll take a huge hit and trade the Outback in for an '07 WRX. Well, there are no '07 WRX's available (not blue wagons anyway). So the salesman tells us that the '08 photos will be released, and it's a totally new look. Well, I hate the new look. The wagon (which they now call a hatch back) reminds me of a Ford Focus. "Scan" thinks we might get used to it, but I have serious doubts about that (for me anyway).

We might try to find a used '04 or '05 model. I miss my old car...I'm gonna go cry now...

Cheers,
Loonette

The image at the top is of the STi, which actually looks pretty different from the base WRX.

The WRX is still more Mazda-ish, but not nearly as ricey looking as the STi. The front bumper, ground effects, and rear spoiler are much more classic on the base model, and, IMO, look much better than the STi.

I still prefer the old body style quite a bit. I'm not a fan of the new more aerodynamic-looking front end or the more hatchback-style rear end.

The way it used to look is one of the reasons I actually didn't buy it when I got my RSX. Different strokes..
