#1 Unread post by tdub2112 »

OK, 94' XR 100 (as always) the engine is tore out and some parts like the cam and jets need to be replaced, or i could get a 115 big bore kit. what do you think would be cheaper?

I'll try to get everything needed added on soon! (i just need to know whats :D and )
My 94' XR 100 is insanely good and mint-ish condition!

Cam shouldn't be changed with a big bore kit. Jets are from the carb, and will need to be changed if you do big bore it.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

If the cam needs replaced now it will still need replaced with a big bore kit. If you bore it you will at least need to rejet if not go to a bigger carb. Maybe need a new pipe, too.

If the cam is shot now you may want to check the head and valves for damage too.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

OK, we need a new piston, conecting rod, and yes a new head! Along with the cam, maybe not the jets. the story behind it is i just today got it free from a neighbor and some of his buddies ran it out of oil  :x so we got a freeby. we wonder if we should go for the big bore or replce it stock price wise.

If it ran without oil long enough to wipe out the top-end, chances are more than good it also ate up the bottom-end. I would have a very good look at the con-rod and crankshaft bearings, as well as the con-rod journal.

No sense in throwing all that money at a top-end unless the bottom-end is sound as well.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:
