loud exhaust pipes

Wouldn't a horn have been better at this?

What does it matter? The point was to get the driver's attention before getting run off the road.

Just seems to me that a good horn is a better solution. Louder, more recognizable as an alert, and doesn't "pee" everyone else off the rest of the time.

Maybe I'm missing the point though. Perhaps I should think about doing something like this with my car.

Sure, a loud horn works. But I don't think he said as he was getting smuthered into the rail, "Gee, you know I wish I had installed that superloud train horn I saw on the internet. I think that would work best in my situation right now. I should get his attention. But since I don't have a horn, I will do nothing to say my "O Ring"."



I don't think as he installed his pipes he was thinking "Man, I'm going to install these loud "O Ring" pipes so that when I need to honk I can use my muffler noise instead".


Do you see what I'm saying? And he made no mention of pissing everyone else off all the rest of the time.

I'm putting Rinehart True Dual pipes on my Road King as soon as I can afford them.

A former boss of mine ran that exhaust on his road king. It was a nice setup, you'll like it.

I love the sound all all stock pipes in U.S. dirt, Sport, Dual Purpose, Standard, Crusier, or Touring.

What impresses me is the condition of a bike thats been ridden.

The pipes I had on my Intruder were very loud. I didn't think about "peeing" people off when I bought the pipes. I just like the sound of loud pipes. A better horn might have been a better solution, but I never planned on being squeezed in. I used what I had at the time. I was only pointing out how affective the loud pipes were at that time.

Come on man... I knew my horn would not have gotten the driver's attention. I had a split second to make a decision. If the horn would have not worked, I would not have had enough time to use my pipes. Please don't bash me for making a split second decision. I'm not saying loud pipes are better than a good horn. I plan on putting a better horn on my present bike, even though my present horn sounds pretty loud.

As mentioned above, I am planning on upgrading my horn. I'm not replacing my pipes to use them in place of my horn. I just like louder pipes. As for the Rinehart pipes, they are no way as loud as my previous pipes. They are just deeper and richer in sound than the stock pipes. If ridden normally, they shouldn't be too loud for a normal rider.

I love opinions. That is what makes this country so great. Please don't bash me for liking something you don't. I hope to meet you someday, and maybe ride with you.

Everyone here probably has more riding experience then me, but that doesn't mean we "all can't get along".......

I have Reinhart true duals on mine and like the note

I like a nice 'Tone' that does not annoy anyone.

A motorcycle needs to heard, even if it's just a little bit.

Having said that, when I rode multi cylinder japanese bikes I preferred them stock, cause they almost always sounded crappy with those 4 into ones screaming away....a bit like the fingernails on the blackboard type of deal.

Perhaps that's one of the reasons I like V-Twins, they always sound great with a good system fitted.
