CRF250X or CRF450X

#1 Unread post by big_sky21 »

I am looking at buying a new honda. Is the 450 too much bike for me? I weigh around 200lbs and have moderate experience on a bike(it has been about 10 years since I have owned a bike). A coworker is telling me that the 450 is too big for me and that I should get the 250, but I don't want to get the 250 an regret not getting the 450 due to lack of power. What are the biggest differences between the bikes? :frusty: Any advice?

the power is about the biggest difference. I personally, would for the 250. I don't need that kind of power for the style of riding i do and where i ride. I do a LOT of heavy forest trail riding with occasional spurts off the trail. The biggest thing for me would be gearing the bike lower, regardless of what machine i'd get.

Funny, an XR650L is considered a great begginers road bike, but you wouldn't reccoment a bike that big, or the 450, as a first dirt bike. Though, you'd be suprised at how much power these modern 250 4strokes make.

Doesn't the CRF250 make like 35 horsepower? I thought they were 35ish horsepower and 210 pounds? That has to go ok.
