Favorite Beers...

Umm, beer.

I really enjoy trying different beers all the time, micro, mega brew, weird brew, import brew, domestic brew, home brew... wow, any brewski!

I've had over 300 brands forsure so It's harder to pick my favorite, but I do enjoy drinking both cheap and fine beers. It's amazing what you can find in quality sometimes for a low price, but it's much more difficult finding a good cheap beer than a good expensive beer.

You American's will laugh at this one, but one of my favorites is:

Rolling Rock.

It's just one of my "good USA" beers I try to get everytime I go down to the USA. A very good easy drinking beer.

If I want good cheap beer I'll go with a Mountain Crest beer. Like the Gold Lager or Perfect 10 (you'll laugh at the label!).Actually if you like 40oz'ers I find Colt 45 to be the best.



For good beer, I like a Guiness in the pub from tap (I don't like it in the bottles as much). I've also recently found a really good one from Singapore called "Tiger Beer". It's a very smooth good beer, but a little pricey at $2.50 a 500ml can.



I generally like a darker beer than a lighter one though. But I'll drink any beer as long as it's cold or free

LOL! I've heard that in the US it isn't favoured much. It's funny that I do enjoy it... must be the good memories when I had one... I first had a Rolling Rock when I was in Cleveland, OH. It's hard to find when I go down to Montana, I usually pick up the only 1-2 cases of it in the town! Now when I go to the USA I find it hard not to drink RR!

Would I like to have a Rolling Rock right now? Damn skippy I would!

I have 1 left in my basement (out of the only 12 I could find months ago), they are like gold. Do they increase in value as they age?!?

I'll also grab a Lucky Lager here (original not the extra strong as that's gross). I've heard from a person who lives in California where they make it that it's known as the bottom of the barrel beer...

I'm of the mind that all of our American mass produced beers are the same. When I'm going camping or to a race or something and need large quantities of beer, I'll buy cheap American beer. Usually Milwaukee's Best, aka the Beast, or something similar as opposed to Budweiser that to me tastes the same and cost twice as much.

That being said, I've always enjoyed Rolling Rock more than the others. I believe until the mid 1990's it was still made in Old Latrobe. But I think it got bought by a larger company and is now mass produced like the others.

I believe it is regional too. Found most around here in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kinda like Iron City and Cincinnati's own Hudepohl.

I agree with t-bonee, as much as I dislike it...cheap beer has its place sometimes. Like when you need to pick up a case for a BBQ or something. When it comes to cheap american beers, the most tolerable is Miller Light in my opinion. Rolling Rock and Yuengling are decent also. You know things are really bad when you get stuck drinking bud light or coors light.

I hate it when non-beer drinkers say "All beer tastes the same." uggh...

American's are quite lucky with their low liquor/beer prices. Some places of the USA I've been to it's cheaper to buy a 6-pack of beer than a 6-pack of soda!

Here, the cheapest you can find beer is $5 for a 6-pack. Domestic beer is about $20 for a dozen.

Guinness is my usual drink of choice. I have one right next to me at the moment. It's empty, but there's a few more in the fridge.

I find Widmer Brothers make some excellent beers. Their Drop Top is tasty and they have a new IPA every year. That annual IPA was knock-down, flat-out awesome a few years ago. This year's is great, too.

Sam Adams Cream Stout is worthwhile, too.

Big Sky Brewing has a lot of great beers, too. I'm really digging their Spring Board seasonal (I think that's BSB). I also enjoy their Moose Drool and Fat Tire.

Arrogant bastrd is another great beer but I haven't had one in a long time. Better go pick up a couple bottles in the near future.

I also have a brother who is a hardcore home-brewer. Right now he has a Porter and a Brown Ale on tap that are both excellent. Probably the finest that he has brewed yet.

And, since we've moved into our new house and he lives only 5 minutes from me now; when I find I want a pint, I just call and ask to borrow some tools from him and I always say, "Naw, I'll just stop over and grab it."

Guinness: the only standby, nothing better than a pint from your favorite bar.

List should have stopped there

A good substitute if the bar is out of Guinness.

And you may know the old "irish car bomb." A shot glass filled with half Jameson's, half Bailey's...then dropped into a half pint of Guinness and the whole thing gets chugged. A couple of those and you had better hand over the keys.

Had never heard of it before. However, willing to try. I have had a shot of Black Bush in my Guinness before. But am willing to try the "Irish Car Bomb" May need a better name for it though.
