I dropped my first bike the day I rode it home in 86. I bought it used from a friend of a friend, rode it home and then while putting down the lickstand it just fell over. I'd ridden a moped in college and had no clue how much a 79 KZ750 weighed. My first thought was "Man, this thing weighs a TON."

I've never dropped a bike yet, and I don't plan on ever doing so.

If you have the idea that you will drop it, guess what, you will.

I drive safe, and I try my best to eliminate any hazardous situations
before I get into them...

Yeah. I used to say all those things too.

I dumped the first bike I ever owned while pushing it up a hill. Funy thing about riding electric start bikes by starting them wtih jumper cables and then running around with no battery in them. I was pushing that piece of "poo poo" up the hill to roll start it, lost my footing on some sand, then not only dropped the bike but landed on top of it after and burned the "poo poo" out of my leg on the exhaust hahaha

Dumped my uncle's KLR650 climbing out of a good sized ditch too. He thought it was funny as hell.

While the statistics are high for those who have dropped bikes, and the likelihood is most people will - not all will. It's not a 100% statistic.

Your experiences are you own and don't dictate that everyone else will have them. ;)

Funny. I didn't drop my first bike (the 18 year old used "beater").

BUT I dropped both my 'pretty' bikes. My first BMW got dropped while rolling out of the service bay at my dealer. It cost me about $150 to replace the badly kinked handlebar. Tipped over months later, turning around on a sand covered driveway and mangled the shift lever.

My current baby got dropped 3 times in one day.

I dropped mine like 84 times already, always at a stand still too :humm:

(ok, not really 84, but it's been dropped)

I didn't drop my first bike. I dropped my 5th bike. I was overly aggressive on a road that didn't have ideal traction conditions.

yep it was classic had just got my bike ('03 Volusia) had just finished MSF and got my license out riding in quiet area. About 1hr. into my ride having fun and doing really well praticing everything. I was coming out of a parking area onto main road stopped looked (no cars anywhere) gonna go make left turn picked up left foot, yes right one was already up, next thing i knew 2 cars stopped 10 drove by couple of guys picked up bike for me. I collected my wits and went DUH need to be MOVING before both feet come up fortunately have highways bars on bike (no damage done)and felt better to have 1st drop done and over with and continued riding around practicing for another2 hrs.
