My mesh jacket really saved me alot of pain and trouble when I slid along the ground probably going 40 mph... there is only a part of the jacket that has a hole... everything else looks pretty much just a little scraped.
*sighs* I still want to get a new mesh jacket though... don't like the idea of it having a hole.

I'd say no, since it would have to be oversized anyways... and could quite possibly bunch up together during a slide... forcing more drag, and inducing a roll.ReductiveNut wrote:I was just wondering if its safe to wear a regular non motorcycle jacket over the mesh jacket. I probably read the answer to this a bunch of times before, but I'm a noob.
But the real question would be... why would anyone wanna wear something over a mesh jacket? Dosn't that completly defeat the purpose of having a mesh jacket? Not trying to be a jerk... just I really don't understand this honestly.
Unless your thinking that you can get away with wearing mesh in colder weather... but then just get a mesh jacket with liners that block out wind/water and add another liner of warmth insulation too. My mesh has both liners ready to zip in or out.
Joe Rocket has a textile jacket that you can unzip panels from it, and the layer below is mesh... so same concept, but just excuted the other way around.

Yeah, check out the Alter ego. It meets the needs of being a warm weather mesh, while adding panels for cooler weather. Always thought of buying one myself, but they are pricy and lots of zippers. If you were thinking of layers for warmth, this might meet that need better, while not giving up having a mesh jacket.Koss wrote: Joe Rocket has a textile jacket that you can unzip panels from it, and the layer below is mesh... so same concept, but just excuted the other way around.

There are days when it's so hot out that I can't stand to have my helmet on (still wear it though), but I've never felt too hot in my mesh jacket. Lots of air circulation, and sun protection, which my fair skin needs.
And as "Scan" mentioned, I've been very happy with the Joe Rocket mesh jackets.
Cheers,
Loonette
