Harley gear
Pretty much everyone in my family rides Harley's but me. I have always been the odd ball of the group. I love the sound and the look of most of the bikes and gear, but I just cant afford the price tag.
HD does make and sponsor some really great gear, but just remember what HD stands for...."Hundred Dollars" Seems like that is what you are gonna spend just walking in the door...lol.
Sure you will be able to find some great stuff in there.

most, if not all their gear is imported.blues2cruise wrote:If you do buy Harley gear, look for where it is made. For example, there have been problems with the leather jackets made in someplace like Pakistan because the stitching comes apart. The ones made in the USA are supposed to be better.
The same thing applies to the boots. Look for where they are made.
If you only want fun gear it won't matter. HD stores also carry helmets and accessories so you should have no problem spending your certificate.
i don't think i saw ONE jacket in the store that didn't say 'Made in China'
some of their leather products are pretty decentt, but you can generally get the same or better quality cheaper elsewhere.

I bought a Harley helmet last year and got a snively remark by one of the sales clerk. She asked what kind of Harley I owned and I said "I own a Kawasaki Vulcan". She made a smart-arse comment about how "It's ok, you're looking to upgrade". It stunned me at the time, but I chuckle whenever I think about it.
As for riding with it on, I don't get any grief at all. Then again, people's knowledge of motorcycles are either Ninjas or Harleys. Mine looks more like a Harley, so people don't give me crap.
Oh, I did go back to the Harley shop and found the same saleswoman who made the initial comment. I asked her if she knew Harley helmets are actually made by AGV (Italian company). Her response was "Harley makes AGV."

I'm hoping my coupon will make it seem more affordable. I did check a different site for prices and some items seemed ok after the coupon's discount, but I was assuming the gear is as good as other brands. It's nice to hear that they should be.CrioGeniC wrote:Pretty much everyone in my family rides Harley's but me. I have always been the odd ball of the group. Most of Vanson's leather is made in the USA, but they've started selling some imported things...inquire before ordering.
