I have a 84 V65 Magna that won't run good,,,it has no power on 1st gear and sometimes on the others when still cold. Is there any easy way to clean the carbs? or do i have to bring it to the shop....also i can hear the valves...is it easy to change?
p.s....i'm not mecanically talented!!lol

Some Sea Foam or Techron, take your pick will do a decent job cleaning your carbs, but they aren't magic. If there's a lot of gunk in your carbs, then you'll need to take them off and at least clean what you can get to.

I don't know anything about your specific bike, but generally speaking, the carbs aren't too bad to take off and give a cursory cleaning. Buy the manual for your bike if you're not comfortable. There are a lot of small parts inside your carbs. DO them slowly, one at a time (in case you forget where something goes, you can check another for reference) and put the parts in a small container like an egg carton or a couple shot glasses.

Adjusting your valves is a little more complicated. Someone in your area might be willing to come walk you through it for the cost of a few beers.

I'm sure there's a forum somewhere for your bike. Do some googling and I'm sure you'll be able to find some help from someone who knows your bike.

My next door neighbor just bought a 84 V65. He's having loads of issues with it. It sat up for a long time. He thinks this is the root of all it's problems. I suspect it'll cost him more to get it right than he paid for it. But it is a damn good looking bike.

Won't run well..

The magna is a harder bike to work on. On my V30 I needed to drop the engine to work on the valves in the rear.

The carbs are also fun to work on... both getting them off and on and actually messing with them

I love this forum- but go here for magna help http://www.v4hondabbs.com/
