Howdy all. Went and killed some time fiddling with the test dmv course yesterday. Afterwards.....I seem to be having braking problems. front brake chitters and vibrates hell out of the front end now. Only at low speed though. say ~10 and under. makes some stuttery squealing noises too.
also noticed one other "symptom" If I'm coasting and turn to the left, i can hear the normal tire/asphalt whisper. To the right i hear a..... rubbing...kinda. damned hard to explain. and a slight vibration too. can't hear or feel either of those when actually using the engine. right side is where the front rotor is too.
Notice nothing at all handling/weird bike wants to flop out from under me wise.
Another tidbit. Front tire was a touch low. pumped that up to the right pressure. Could the right turn noise be a slightly cupped tire?
so what yall think? out of adjustment? dead pads? warped rotor? wheel bearings?

Vibrating front end under braking indicates a warped rotor or stuck piston. However, your bike is new enough this should not be an issue. Has it been dropped before? Are you noticing odd wear marks on the rotor? It should be more noticable at high speeds though, so that seems a little odd to me.
Can you get the front end up somehow and spin it freely, try to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from.
Maybe check to see if something got stuck between the brake pads and the rotor? You'll need to remove the whole caliper to do it correctly, so make sure not to squeeze the lever if you do. Once you get it back on/reinstalled (just slips over the disk) then pump the lever a few times to restore pressure to the system, otherwise your brakes won't work the first time you try.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Havent had time to inspect it too closely. I took it home last night after i noticed it doing it's little trick.
And unfortunately ....I'm not sure if i can jury rig something to loft the front at my current place. It seems to drift easily though. (I know thats not much of a diagnostic, but its the best i have just atm). I mean no telltale hitches or the like. Other than the weird little vibe when coasting and turning right. I should be able to do the caliper though. Got enough tools and know how for that one. Now to find a day without thunderstorms and a dry spot. I did have a fairly close look at the rotor a couple of days ago, did the wash the bike routine and spent some time swabbin the spokes.
And yea, the low speed shudder is really odd. Acts like maybe it has oil on the rotor or something and is trying to lock up. I didnt see any, and the forks are dry. Plenty of fluid in the brake resivoir too. so that doesnt seem to be leaking.
I'm really hoping and praying its just old pads. or a warped rotor. either of those should be easy to deal with. when i start thinking about bearings, seals and the like I get a little queasy though. Had hoped not to ever have to see another one up close after I worked on my last wheel unit. Looks about right Ick. Never want to work on something that i have to beat with a 20lb sledge again.

Well I *think* i've solved my shuddering problem. It seems dish detergent in a mop bucket isnt the best thing to clean your front rotors with. Did the can o' brake cleaner routine, and scrubbed the everlovin crap out of the rotor, and hose down the pads as much as i could without yanking them off.
Did as many away from traffic low speed stops with only the front as i could on my way in to work today. worked fine. Other than a bit of squealing.
I'm still seeing er, feeling the little vibe/rubbing/grinding/thing. HRm.. i didn't realize it was that hard to describe. symptoms for recreation of that one are.
1. Forward momentum. All speeds seem the same.
2. Clutch in and coasting(can't feel it over anything but idle)
3. Lean/turn to the right.
4. Only notice the very slight vibe in the bars. But my gear may be insulating me from others coming from the back.
